Just a heads-up. The next page of Crossoverlord debuts tomorrow, Friday, August 14. And unlike the previous page, Al already had it in the bag weeks ago. I'm uploading it now.
This page was originally posted as a filler to stand in place of a late update. Now, it's been placed back where I originally intended to go, at the opening of Chapter 6. Mind you, this isn't actually part of the original treatment. This is just something that was whipped up in a hurry.
I guess I wanted to go back and explain what Ringo was doing about this business at the Armory. Surely he wasn't playing tiddlywinks with manhole covers. No, he's going to send back-up, by gosh! And who is this team leader of which Jenny speaks? Maybe we'll find out later.
There are also some practical reasons for this scene. 1. Ringo is both easy to draw and color. 2. There's no detail in his chamber to worry about. 3. The cameos were of characters I didn't need permission to use.
My rendition of The Shifter is very loosely based on the Union Of Heroes Jenny, as opposed to the cover of Chapter 6, where she more resembles the traditional Jenny.
Most people familiar with Red Robot will recognize him from Diesel Sweeties, but he is actually one of the first big-time cameo characters to appear in multiple webcomics. At one time, he was as common as Jenny Everywhere is now.
I do believe that this is the first time that Jenny Everywhere and Red Robot, two notorious cameo characters, have ever appeared in the same comic. Don't quote me on that, though.
Hey, on a side note, did you ever notice that Reg from Rubbadubbers is a Red Robot? Check it out!
Fpr those who are looking for the fantastic cameo-filled cover that Neil did---including Sparkling Generation Yuuki and many, many others---hit the "prev" button.
There are an infinite number of Jenny Everywheres. That's her power -- she knows everything every version of her knows. At least, in one interpretation.
I love Jenny Everywhere. I should finish that one-shot comic I was doing with her...
An explanation might be that the Sisters are only recently able to notice the existence of multiple Jenny Everywheres thanks to the weakening of the barriers. So they think one caused another.
This Jenny is remarkably humble compared to the others - apparently there are not only variations in appearance but in the character too.
There's a comic earlier in the series which states that the existence of the Jennys is indirectly attributable to the Smiling Man's attempts to tear down the barriers between realities.
Of course, that doesn't mean that the existence of Jenny Everywhere in the multiverse is a bad thing. She's fairly innocuous character wherever she exists, which makes her the perfect agent for Ringo.
It's kind of like Smurfette being made by Gargamel.
Oh god, I just made a Smurfs reference.
Neil sounds almost apologetic up there, but I personally really, really, REALLY like the idea of Jenny Everywhere working as Ringo's herald or messenger. It also makes a good followup to the Smiling Man's comments about what to do with Sidekick Girl and the lady from Rival Angels.
