Sorry about last week. Bad times, man. Anyway, enough about that.
So, today we begin the final assault! Our heroes join hands and plow through a gang of Red Robots. I couldn't help but make a bowling joke out of it. And of course, Das has to reference Fred “Twinkle Toes” Flintstone.
And in yet another call-back, Mindmistress again tinkers around with the robots, except that this time, she nullifies Smiley's entire army by turning them against one another.
Red Robot's old catch phrase was always “Must destroy puny humans” or some variation thereof. So why not play that into the sequence?
I already covered the origin of Red Robot once before, but I might as well do it again. Red Robot originates from Exploding Dog, and the use of the character has the benefit of being entirely free, as independent use is enthusiastically encouraged.
You may be more familiar with the character as he appeared in Diesel Sweeties.

Hey, did you notice that---for once---our team is actually working TOGETHER? EFFICIENTLY? Not disfunctionally?
Obviously the end of the multiverse MUST be at hand!

With his knowledge of our heroes, you'd think Smiley would have modified the Red Robots to prevent MM from doing something like this (particularly after the armory incident, although I'd say that was too recent for him to make such modifications to an entire freaking army). The fact he didn't implies that he doesn't care about his army being able to fight effectively, which in turn implies a less-than-ideal situation for what he may have in store for Ringo.
And you thought we had that bit about MM reprogramming the robots at the Armory just for show...nope. We were setting it up for THIS.
Still, although initially taken aback, Uber-Reds are stronger than Dasien. It's a pretty even fight...
Of course, Smiley has an ace up his sleeve. This Thursday, Smiley confronts Ringo, and this Saturday, I have the art chores. Both pages are already done and ready to upload!
And this past Thursday was our second year anniversary! As you can see, we're approaching the climax of our story...and take it from me, our group is nowhere out of the woods yet!

Spectacular. I thought it strange to use the red robots and uber-red clones, but now I know why you all did.

It's red vs. red!

MM's armor is more adaptable and can form its OWN tools--than you might think. See here.

Love the battle cries. ("Yabba-dabba-do!" cracked me up.) Another great page. Great pacing, great action, just all around great!

I don't think he was anticipating all of the heroes actually BEING here. On the other hand, he just needs to keep them occupied long enough...
