I am not a fan of how in most situation, the family and friends pressure the MC to do something they don't want to do. Besides, like they said, wanting to serve and protect is a good thing!

You would be very surprised by how scarce this happens in anime and what's even more sad is that the latter reaction is not only normalized, it is considered as noble.
