Due East - Book 4 Page 20
dueeast on Sept. 9, 2008
September 24, 2008 Update: I have already begun work on the next page and hope to have it by next week. Only two pages left to go in Book 4! Woohoo!
DD seems to finally be stabilized (*whew!*) but just in case, whenever you need your Due East “fix,” you can always visit us at http://www.dueeastcomic.com
Besides, there's lots to like at the mirror site and we'd love your input! There's the full archive, a DE forum and blog as well as all the fillers, fan art and Behind The Scenes – all in one site!
Original blurb: First of all, I want to thank the Drunk Duck community, on behalf of myself and my wife, for helping Due East win the title of Best Spiritual Comic in the Drunk Duck Awards 2008 and for making DE a finalist for Most Profound Comic! There are a lot of comics, really good comics at DD and to win an award from our peers means a great deal to us. *bow*
Today's page: There had to be something to try and get in the way of Brielle going to church with Carolyn now, right? She's still not fully healed from her injury and sometimes injuries let you know they're still there at the worst and most awkward of times. This is obviously one of those times for Brielle. But at least she finally got some relief…
Did you think I'd forgotten the comments on the last page? I haven't. Here's my replies…
usedbooks: I think it's safe to say Mom won't be thrilled with Brielle's decision.
blntmaker: It's day to day for me, my friend, but I'm in good spirits. And the band my wife and I are in do praise music and perform wherever we are needed or requested. Our church has several talented musical groups and choirs from the congregation.
Molly Loves the KLF: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the music.
smkinoshita: Thanks! I'm glad you think that.
amanda: Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
trevoramueller: Thanks for the 5!
DAJB: One can only hope it's something in the air. :)
JustNoPoint: It's a trend? I agree, it is a welcome change. So of course, we blow it with this page…lol!
houseofmuses: Thank you!
KayleeVersus: Welcome to Due East, we're glad to have you here! Thanks. I love Off Hours, too.

Congrats on taking the Spiritual Award, Allen! Just like Vickie down there, you've gotta do more color! Your coloring skills are spot on here and of course, great update! Yeah, man...I saw that Aurora update too! MORE COLOR!

Remind me to hope that I never get that sort of spasm O_O Congratulations on your win! Religious comic is definitely your forte! Also, the new Off Hours Banner is at the private forum. Let me know if it is good enough to move onto "operation flash"

btw forgot to congratulate you on your winning the best spiritual category.
trevoramueller at 1:18PM, Sept. 10, 2008
Congrats on the win! A very powerful page here!

Congratulations on your award XD! The effect of pain you have on this girl's face really works here. Lovely coloring too ^_^!

Ooooh, you just had to bring us down again, didn't you?! That is painful even to look at! Congrats on the award! Nice to know that one of my nominations made it through! (Oh, and I did reply to your PQ, by the way, but my PC crashed as I pressed "send" so - if you didn't get it - that's why! It was far too long and rambling to re-type but, essentially, it said "thanks!" (Now, if only DD had given me a "sent box", I could have sent it again!)

What a contrast to the bouyancy of the last page! I completely agree with Vickie - you can almost feel how much Brielle hurts =[
smkinoshita at 7:00AM, Sept. 10, 2008
I'm with Vickie, because I've done that too. It's very much an 'piano dropped on you from nowhere' sort of feeling, and a great relief when it calms down enough for you to focus again.

Argh, this is so intense and powerful. Pain is a great force for the human body (and soul). And true, something will always happen to try and stop you while trying to go ahead and help yourself or others. Good thing it almost never truly succeeds. I love the panelling in this. Adds to the general feeling of alarm and torture. Good job!

Anybody who's had to recover from a severe injury can tell you that you're never quite the same afterward. I really appreciate that you've taken this into account when you drew this.

Her thoughts and expressions remind me of when I threw my back out. -_- You really capture pain very well. I always "feel" these pages.
