37: Ever So Slightly

Apologies for the wait once again. I've recently bought the cheapest little tablet I could get my hands on and combined with an old steam laptop I should be able to push things foward while I'm far from home.
David is risking his new relationship here and/or his health and safety. Will Lydia cast him aside like a bad penny, or will his heartfelt words save the day?

Moonlight on the bridge over a river, how wonderfully romantic! The detail in that penny is awesome and nicely nostalgic for some of us Brits, I still have a few in my 'treasures chest' but it does make me wonder how long she's been holding onto hers and if she intended trying to spend it! Is 1964 a significant year for you in some way? apart from that penny the last panel is my fave just for the wonderful angle and composition, it has such power!

Many thanks, the tall panel approach of usually having just two tiers in this comic can feel restricting at times, but it does force me to push myself and experiment. I went for 1964 as it's the year of my birth so in one sense it's also Lydia's, although she's much older of course!

She asked for honesty, and he delivered.

He did, while also being tactful enough not to mention the three guys she butchered earlier. Definitely a keeper!

The path of true love is never smooth. One wonders where she had the penny. Are there pockets in that outfit?
Ironscarf at 2:26AM, Nov. 5, 2024
I had the same thought while drawing this page. Pockets in her hair was the best solution I could come up with?

The positives are sweet - somehow it seems she might be more enraptured by the honest admission of fear!
Ironscarf at 6:29PM, Nov. 4, 2024
After a couple of hundred years she must have heard every sweet nothing there is, but David has managed to add an unexpected twist. Perhaps she won't throw him in the river after all!

This is love, 100%, and it seems the penny drops with her in more than one way.
Ironscarf at 1:20PM, Nov. 4, 2024
I think you may be right and now they've been suitably paid, the river gods will bless this unholy union.

I think... finally he does the right thing.
Ironscarf at 1:22PM, Nov. 4, 2024
They do say fools rush in, so at least he can't be accused of that.

Possibly her ambition in life... or death... is to scare the crap out of people, it's an admirable goal. ★★★★★
Ironscarf at 8:47AM, Nov. 4, 2024
Very true - compliments are ten a penny, but his admission of fear will melt her cold dead heart!
plymayer at 7:14AM, Nov. 4, 2024
His explanation of how he feels sounds like the beginning of love. Mostly, the scary part.
Ironscarf at 8:43AM, Nov. 4, 2024
Haha! yes, what could be more be more lovely, or more terrifying than love?
