Well in all fairness, with all the comic books and heroes out there it is rather impossible to create your own look anymore.
So I think it is a compliment your work is, even if it is remote, alike to such a great work.
Aside from the art style, I can't see much real connection to Static Shock.
I have the entire series on my computer and I went and did some looking.
Nope. No one really even comes close.
Really, comparing Fusion to Static like that is sort of like saying Luke Skywalker is the same as Superman cause they both grew up on farms.
Broken Teardrops--First off, I love the DCAU, and it's a huuuuge influence on Fusion. However, I've only seen a handful of episodes of Static Shock, so I'm not sure which character you're talking about, so any resemblance to characters from that show is indeed coincidental. That said, since Static Shock is set in the DCAU and shares Bruce Timm's style (which is a strong influence on the look of Fusion), seeing similarities would make perfect sense. For those wondering (and as some have already surmised) Fusion's suit was inspired by the blue Superman suit back in the 90s when his powers were energy based.
Okay, don't know if anyones thought of this or if this was meant to be but she seems like static shock sort of. She's got the light/electricity type of thing going on with her suit, and Static shock also looks like that except his colors are blue and yellow. Another thing i'm pretty sure there was also a villain in that show who not only looked similar to her, but had the same colors to. Coincidence?
Emmzee--School let out early because of a series of strange events and NOW a small army is marching down the streets. This takes place some time after school let out but is apparently related, but I can see how the wording could cause confusion.
It's not "clearly night" she could be fling in the outer atmosphere. Where, yes, you would see stars and blackness and a bluish case light from the planet below. much like the background in the page.

I think most of what is reminding people of static shock is that they look similar. all the bright purple and stuff

So, the school was dismissed early, even though it's clearly night time when school should be over?

I love the fresh presentation of this comic. The character is original and interesting, and the narration is sarcastic and funny. Good stuff!
