Fusion #4 Page 9
EssayBee on Sept. 6, 2010
Here's page 9 of Fusion #4. Flow of this page is a bit choppy. Flow made sense when I scripted, but after looking at it, I think it could've probably used another panel or two of transitions. Hopefully the actions make sense even without those transitions.
Also, I know the proper term is “crosshairs” (plural), but the singular makes more sense for a character name–at least to me.

I should remember things before posting. I read this before and still completely forgot about the bullet lodged nearby. Hey DrunkDuck, can we get a way to edit our posts so I can stop feeling like a dope now?

I love the name "Drainomyte"

Good page, is "Drainomyte" Captain Stupendous' Kryptonite?

smkinoshita--Good point about the pose. Even leaning forward with her hands on her knees would've looked better. And Skully does it to make your life difficult because she's trying to be evil even to her artist!

I've been reading the comments regarding Fusion's stance and I can suggest narrowing her eyes a little and making her lean forward. It will give her a more "investigative" appearance. Which is not an easy pose to do (Skully does it fairly frequently making my life difficult) And since when have super-names ever made sense?

Crosshair is a fine name, Broder is a nice expo character, moves the story along nicely. Fusion does look a little slutty in panel 4, but as a teenager then she probably wouldn't know any better.

The mystery thickens.

A single aim line, usualy vertical, is called a sight line. It typicly ends halfway up the sight. A non-uptin sight bar (like you see on the end of rifles) is called an 'iron sight'. I always found the name Iron Sight a neat idea for a mercenary name.

AzuJOD--Yep. Although this scene ends next page, this issue's just getting started.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing more villains before long!

i see what you mean by the stance, i think it is the knees. if the knees didn't come together it would be more exasperated, less anime schoolgirl. i watch a lot of anime so i didn't catch that until you pointed it out. it seems the amount the knees come together indicates how feminine they are, and thus almost always women have at least some inward bending going on. crosshair tends to be the general term for an aiming reticule, crosshairs is a bit specific to the type, though i am pretty sure this distinction is only amongst gamers, as i don't recall any of my shooting friends ever saying crosshair, it is always sights, or crosshairs.

an angry rabbit... CrossHare! :D So if Drainomyte is Stupendous'... er... kryptonite... does that mean he came from the planet Drainom? Nice page, good to have a character like Brooder to move the story along, the real mystery now presents itself!

Al--Crossharry? That's the name of a tough-as-nails, gritty cop who carries a .44 Magnum . . . and wears a dress.
darth_paul at 9:01AM, Sept. 7, 2010
Nah, his arch enemy is Ben Stein! LOL!
alschroeder at 8:37AM, Sept. 7, 2010
Crossharry? And is the Purple Principal's arch-enemy the Purple People-Eater? Or Ferris Bueller? --Al

Zolem--Maybe it's a long hair crossed over itself. Sorry. Don't mean to split hairs with you on the matter. (Ha!) But I take your point. Loud G--I think you're right, but hopefully the stance doesn't come across as flirty! (It's not supposed to be.) After reading your comment and looking at her stance, I wonder if I put too much swing in her hip.
Loud_G at 8:23AM, Sept. 7, 2010
Her stance in the last panel screams, Brooder, you aren't paying enough attention to me :)
sakkra at 8:01AM, Sept. 7, 2010
dun dun duuun....
Zolem at 8:00AM, Sept. 7, 2010
Well a crosshair is imposible, as it is literaly a crossing of two 'hairs', or aim guide lines. Still, nobody ever accused villains of being gramaticly corect when it came to thier name. Right Pharo-moan?
