Also further thoughts.. it is probably a good thing Hawk isn't here... give every one a chance to get off the ship, take 5 min to settle in to the station before we tear into some heavy emotional explanations.. introductions are going to be weird knowing no one knows why they are being introduced yet.
I chose my words carefully, I specifically avoided the word lie.. Hawk did not lie.. a lie is intentionally making a false statement.. in Hawk's world what he has translated is real, but that does not make it true. I cringed when the elder was explaining her role and hawk translated that as "oh you're a cougar. Do you have a wish-list?" That interaction gave me a physical reaction. But that does not make the elder a Jane. I did not call Hawk a liar, I said he has only just been rescued from a world where NOT trying to proposition every thing he sees is a punishable offense and he could not imagine why any one would interact with him without similar motivations.
Things have happened between when hawk left the work area and when he told boo he had a bad day.. at one point hawk speculated that words have different meanings here.. so the truth is somewhere in between...it's sort of like the limitations on warmwinds ability to only speak the truth..it is the truth as he knows it and believes.. And such truth can change as nw info comes to light..hawk really has no idea what people what or expect in this world..
I think some things may have happened off-screen that we don't know about. I'm not going to presume Hawk is fabricating lies unless there's solid evidence that it's happening.
there has been no creeps... no one has propositioned hawk for anything despite how hard he has worked to get them to do so. Can't find the specific incident mentioned, I remember it happening soon after arival at the station, but read pages 5538776, 5549607, 5550231, 5550930, 5569648 especially, 5571122, 5575411. No one has asked him for anything beyond casual acquaintanceship and to hand out drinks with lunch, and Hawk can not fathom a world that could operate like that and keeps receding back to his old life to translate every interaction because there is always a catch. To be fair, you have to remember, in story time, it has been only about a week since they pulled him out of the protective custody cell after they picked him up for what amounts to blood prostitution. I can not even pretend to understand what it would be like to live in that state of existence, but no one is done any favors by accepting his claims of misdeed by others.

Sitting here staring at a happy Boo holding a kid she (lost/will never have) has got to be killing HG inside.

No different than Krosp greeting Agatha with a comment about it being years.

Which fits in neatly with the time dilation of near light speed travel.
