depends on your estimation of few... it only takes about 10 hours rough math for light to go from one side of the solar system to the other. So the biggest item of concern would be what side of the sun each is on in its current orbit, also time to encode and decode the signal to fit whatever bandwidth they are transmitting in.. but as they have space ships and magic i assume they have that bit fairly figured out

One light hour is 675 million miles, somewhere between Jupiter and Saturn. Uranus is 1,784 million miles. I'd say "a few" hours means somewhere between Saturn and Uranus distance-wise.
