Cover: issues 6 (The Trial) and Special 2 (Sysyphus Part 2)

Another month, another double-issue endeavor. I must be crazy. But I did intend this from the start of last month, so it's just me having to work with what I already mapped out (sort of–I've been working off of ideas, rather than scripts, since issue 4).

I really tried to be ominous in the top cover. It's hard to do a conceptual cover when your art skills are paltry to nonexistant, so I hope it has a decent feeling to it. I realized when coloring it, though, that I forgot to draw Sparkle's bow, and it's not an easy fix at that point. Oh well, people can still tell it's her. I'm definitely more happy with how I drew her than Astral, and that's mainly because Astral was just so complicated for me to draw like that. But I do like the ominous hands quite a bit, and the evil eyes are always fun. Also, you see the inset picture? That character is going to be appearing in the comic next month. I sometimes find it hard to come up with a decent inset picture, but this one can work for when the next month switches to another character (and it's something I should have thought to do every time–I can't recall off the top of my head what exactly I did each time for that).

The bottom cover, meanwhile, has another one of those cameos I've been doing. Since this storyline leads Tempore into the 2012 Halloween Cameo Caper, it only makes sense that I do copious crossovers to make Hogan (who catalogues cameos and crossovers on his site) have an aneurism. I like to give.
But anyways, that green fellow on the cover there is the Editor from Evil Overlords United and main antagonist of the Crossover Wars, drawn really poorly. Remember that this storyline so far taKes place before the Crossover Wars ended. Specifically, I cameoed my own comic (Comfortably Numb) last issue, and since it died out late 2006, that's a good bet as to timeframe. Not to mention that Albert Quad of the KAMics had yet to reveal himself as the traitor to his SMOG organization, which is also an indicator that the Wars have not ended. In fact–they haven't even started! I figure last issue took place during the closing of 2006, and this one picks up right afterwards, possibly right at the beginning of 2007 (the Wars began in mid-January in 2007). Why this timeframe? Well, I do want to give Tempore a bit of a journey, and to take him through events I was too late to be a part of. It'll be interesting to me to see how I can pull this off.

I have a crossover project in the works. If you want to be involved, please e-mail me at karamesser@hotmail.com or PQ me. It will be both a fun crossover and also a benefit for the Hero Initiative, a charity that helps comic creators in need–and the more people that get involved, the more potential money can be raised (plus, a crossover can help promote involved comics rather well).
