The distortion effect is good. For me I find the big script across the page distracting especially when something isn't intended for a Japanese reading audience. If it is that's a different story. Here I see it like an anime with the sound effects marked as they are in the script and rough cuts.

I like that distortion effect in the water. May I ask why you do the sound fx similar to how a manga translation does them instead of adding them into the images? It makes the sound fx feel more like an old silent movie where the action stops to show the audience the text.

But you are not translating any sounds. If there were Japanese sounds in the images it'd make sense. Mangas don't have these in Japan. They are only there to translate Japanese sound fx in the images. Your pages would become more powerful by adding the sounds into the images like Manga and US comics do.
