Over the fleet

In this page I have the start of “Part two”
Things start to make a lot more sense now. The pace of the story slows well down, but it solidifies and the art gets better. ^_^

Description:
Pinky’s flying out to the fleet in an anachronistic Russian looking helicopter. She’s sitting behind her S.S.V.5 there.

Commentary:
The top of this page was the cover for part two, but I decided it looked all graphic arty and cool done this way instead. I should really put it in as a separate cover anyway, I will in fact. That image is interesting: a French model by the name of Claudia Moreno-Toscane requested that I draw her. I’d had this pose of Pinky in mind anyway, so I just used Claudia to make Pinky. She’s kneeling on a rather angular version of her S.S.V.5 here. I love the fact that this pic has such an Art Decco feel to it. I really went for that.
As for the rest, the helicopter was something I just had to have. The Soviets made some of the BEST looking military gear ever, especially their helicopters. I designed this one myself though. It’s a sort of a mix between a popular navel transport heli and the civilian version. The whole scene with Pinky in the back of the chopper is sort of in homage to Masamune Shirow. It’s partly inspired by the whole Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, Dominion Tank Police sort of manga look; those were some of the few comics I really knew, more by the art than the story though.

A note:
I've decided to upload one page a day until I catch up with the main site. Just because I like to write about these pages and it's really hard to do that when I upload 10 at a go, (which I hate doing). Meanwhile, if you want to see the latest, just click the “Main site” link.
