Theological cannibalism

Kilre on Dec. 24, 2010

It's not exactly an unknown fact that Christianity has cannibalized and plagiarized from other religions. Jesus, if he existed, joins a slew of other mythical beings born on the 25th of December–and Christians didn't even begin to celebrate his “birth” on that date until the mid-300s AD, when it was still very much a time of pagan celebration.

It's of little wonder then that Christianity has survived so long, when it incorporates those ideas that are at odds with its own theology so successfully.
