While I don't remember this happening in Calvin & Hobbes, I can definitely imagine it. Calvin & Hobbes was one of my favorite cartoons. :)

You may be right. Then again, you may be giving something pretty special to her just by spending time with her. As people get older, the things we value tend to change, and one of the things that seems to grow in value as we get older is time.

When I was little, I'd serve my mom a PB&J sandwich and a glass of orange juice on Mothers Day. Now I just take her out to eat at a restaurant. Sometimes, I think the old days had more meaning.
