Book one, page 10

This is the last page of scene one so you get larger splash panels. The story was originally shot as scenes. Each scene was done as on stage with a change of characters and background. I usually write the script first and then go back and put in the scene breaks just before I intend to start shooting so I can tally up backgrounds, characters and even prop and costume changes. It pays to plan it all out like stage or film production. When I did this over a decade ago I was still learning. All the gaffes here would lead to better production planning on later productions.

I try to make the figures as natural as possible. So Dame Bridget removes her helmet with the end of battle and rubs her head. There are grooms and servants holding the nobles' mounts. Bridget is not riding a heavy horse since her people ride to battle and dismount to fight. Women also tend to be given smaller, lighter horses with a smooth gait to ride called a palfrey.

The Nasnor leaders remain on foot as there was no time to unload their horses from their ships before marching to battle. That also says something about Countess Orshia as a commander that she is willing to share the hardships of her soldiers.

And it turns out Falkimir was taken by the pretty face as was Darran. But Falkimir is has someone else in mind to wed. And that is another reason Nasnor troops are there; to support the man their princess is betrothed to. You mean there's a plot here? Yes indeed and it builds up piece by piece. For every mystery solved another will come in. The story has barely begun.
