01 - Turnip Shows

I've noticed, from time to time, people who don't like sprite comics making sprite comics that are deliberately bad as a means of poking fun at them. While I can see where they're coming from, that idea seems a bit too easy for me.
No, for me, a real test is seeing if I could actually make a sprite comic that's good.
Of course, as the name implies, this is going to be an experiment. I need to find what's possible and what isn't in this medium, and as this is only my second foray into this realm of digital art, I'm still a bit of a green horn. For now I'm allowing some of the technical side of the process (such as resizing) fall to the side as I focus on storytelling and trying to make things humorous.
This whole project has already shown itself to be more trouble than I thought it would be. Believe it or not, the easiest part was actually making the field and clouds in the background. Say what you will about sprites, it's a big hassle to try and make something decent looking in simple pixels.

I like it. Your approach to sprite comics through turnips is clever.

I am a sprite comic artist myself and i know how lazy people can get sometimes on them. lets take your backgrounds for example, yours are more detailed(is that a good word) then mine. i just go and use sprites for my backgrounds. it not so much lazyness as the fact i dont know how to use photoshop or anything like that to make good backgrounds....did i just insult myself with this coment?

Sorry about the lack of updates. I lost a lot of my files not too long ago (computer trouble), and that included all my stuff for Shy Experiment. Right now I'm trying to get into a good rhythm for Elijah and Azuu so I can update it daily, and TSE is very much a side-project, so it's getting a bit left behind in that regard.

There ARE good sprite comics out there. The problem is, because so many people hate them, there aren't many "good" storytellers willing to do them. So what left? The BnG and 8-bit ripoffs, and the lazy unimaginitive people you mention here. I used to love some sprite comics. Back when they were somewhat fresh, and every other person with delusions that they could make something entertaining tried making one. There were a lot of good ones. But they slowly died off becasue people started hating sprite comics. I'm not saying I disagree with you, because I definately don't, but it's when people don't even give them a chance that kinda irritates me. Just because something uses sprites doesn't mean it isn't work (you even said this yourself), and just because a person chooses not to draw (or doesn't have the ability) doesn't mean they can't be entertaining. This here does look good though.

See, this just shows what CAN be done with a sprite comic with a little imagination and effort. It's funny and a delight to look at. People should take notes. ;)

I find most sprite comics aren't too good. Some however are well written and humerous. I think this is one of those, it at least made me laugh. ^.^
