Gangrel

This is a character I played in a Vampire RPG for awhile. He's a Gangrel named Lucas Crowe, a 1930's era Appalachian teen, who tended to embarrass his more urbane associates.
This was drawn and inked on duotone paper. There are two different gray tones embedded in the paper, brought out by chemicals. I haven't worked with this very much. Years ago when I first did this page the difference between the light and dark tones was more pronounced. As time has gone on the page has faded. The original now has a neat sepia-toned look.

I'd like to try the Duotone technique, but the material is getting hard to find and costly.

One of the Malibu series I inked was on this paper (one of the Alien Nation miniseries). They sent me a few blank sheets to practice on before I tackled the whole thing. This was the best result of that. Quite honestly I didn't like the way the series looked at all. Some of that was my lack of experience with this paper.

Ben Day paper? I always wanted to work with some of that paper, but I recall it was expensive. I think I got a few sheets but never actually did anything with them. Newspaper cartoonists like Bob Rogers works with stuff like that still, although with computer maybe he doesn't now. -L.
