Whoa this is going to be so nice!

@PaulEberhardt- this is Em's template design with my tweaks. They might go here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.drunkduck.com/users/Ozoneocean/assets/dd-template-fix-14-03-2023-desktop-charby.jpg

@Othosmops - thanks! People can publish mile long comics here already haha! That will continue with the new template.

Ozoneocean at 8:11PM, April 2, 2023

@J_Scarbrough - links aren't finalised as part of the design yet but they ARE going in. There is no additional navigation, that should just show up if a person had it in their template. i.e. you can enable additional navigation

Ozoneocean at 8:09PM, April 2, 2023

@Prototype- the search section is needed there, but yeah, the publish comic thing is intrusive as I've noted, I would like the functionality there but we need a less obtrusive way to display it. Maybe under the user comments?

PaulEberhardt at 7:58AM, April 2, 2023

I think the "publish a comic" button and the search bar use up too much space. There is plenty of room above for the search bar, and the button if you think it needs to be on the comic pages. I like the comment section below. Also, it's a good idea to put the "like", "subscribe", "rss", and "share" buttons down there, next to the drop-down list with the archive. In the customized layouts of Pinky TA, Fusion and Simply Sarah that looks really neat, too. I like it less in Bottomless Waitresses where they are in one row with the navigation buttons, which is to my mind a bit too crammed and confusing. Btw. where will the favorites list and the duckmarks go?

Othosmops at 9:16AM, April 1, 2023

I actually don't think this "publish a comic" button is that bad. It's just a bit big. Next to it, I think a link to the overview page and the faceted search function shall also catch the eye.

Othosmops at 8:17AM, April 1, 2023

First of all: Big praise: The responsive format is coming! Such a design naturally tempts us authors to move away from the print page format to one-by-one panels with larger characters on mile-long scrolls stretching downward. Will these narrow and long formats (also) be supported?

J_Scarbrough at 1:07PM, March 31, 2023

I'm still very much happy to see that the customizations that we've made to our individual comic sites are not going to be affected by the new updates to the overall DD site, HOWEVER, I think I may have spotted ONE minor little issue, and that's the links to our sub pages below our comic banners seem to have been replaced with additional navigation buttons (first, previous, next, last). I just wanted to call attention to this in case this may be something that can be fixed before the new designs and everything are finalized and go live.

:D

Prototype at 10:47AM, March 31, 2023

Also, the search bar and publish button together with the DD logo part does take up a lot of top space. Readers have to scroll past 1/4 of the screen to get to the actual page.

Prototype at 10:42AM, March 31, 2023

Looking good but i don't feel the the "search bar" and the "publish a comic" should be on the actual comic page at all. On the front page sure, but I don't think people generally visit a comic to search for another comic...??

DylanTale Comics at 9:00AM, March 31, 2023

Looking good as always, my atmospheric friend, keep up the good work!

Thanks :)

Unified comment system sounds great. :D
