I can understand the criticism, but I don't share it. I like exactly what has been criticized here, and like some other novels, the fanservice is so significant on the one hand that on the other hand I'm prepared to engage more intensively with the complex parts (both in terms of the plot context and the dramaturgy or layout). And usually with benefit. There are certainly weaknesses. The biggest one, in my opinion, is the lack of an appendix, e.g. with an index of persons, which would make it easier to keep track of things. But overall, I think this comic is one of the most ingenious I know. Very elaborately done, thematically downright unique at DD, and with a publication frequency that leaves my mouth open. And the characters may be overdrawn - I don't see them as one-dimensional - but they stand for something. They are carefully crafted and it's a pleasure to watch them act. A perfect fairy tale for adults, in my opinion.

That's a nice counterpoint, I think a large amount comes from whether a reader can engage with the characters. If you can there's a lot to indulge in.

Plot wise it comes off as very influenced by Japanese media. I actually liked The villains being cartoonish. It's very much like the Asian live action I've seen At a couple of points I was half expecting Cutey Honey to appear or for the princess to reveal her magical girl powers. Viewed in that light makes up for a lot of other supposed shortcomings and I can understand the popularity and Fandom. It might work a touch better with the art more manga based and not as realistic since as a comic it doesn't have to be realistic like a live action series or movie.

i think if it was more cartoonish as a whole I'd would work better for me. Not visually so much but the overall tone.

The 3D art is very flat and bland. That isn't realistic lighting. It's the same flat lighting regardless of source. The characters occasionally look pasted into the background. Later in the comic there are large sections with no porn but constantly promising a sex scene. The plot and dialog comes off as padded like it could easily be one third as long. Honestly, these are things I struggle with in my own work so I'm really conscious of it and maybe too much so.
