I have a feeling she can forgive Danielle and that their bond matters more than the danger that can arise

Amy witnessed Danielle fighting to save Lizzy. That did much to strengthen the friendship between the two women.

They're still on talking terms, that's something... I somehow get the feeling that Amy, hardened country woman that she is, does not consider her life quite as ruined as Dani thinks, nor does she see her as a monstrous creature of the night. Still, Dani may be right in that some time for each to sort out their thoughts and feelings may do them some good. Or perhaps it won't... I think mks_monsters nailed it below: I really love how Dani and the others are such complex and relatable characters that you just can't help getting emotionally involved.

Danielle is a genuinely good person. Unfortunately, she is a vampire and is prone to acts of violence when the need arises. She hates this, and tries to avoid it. Even though her being a vampire had nothing to do with the attempted abduction of Lizzy, Danielle feels evil follows her everywhere. The fact that Amy and Lizzy were victims has shattered Danielle's heart. I'm glad the effort I have made to make my characters be relatable has succeeded. Reading comments, like yours, makes me want to continue Danielle's story for years to come.Thank you.

Amy: Ruined our lives? What are you talking about? If you had not been here, then the kidnappers would have Lizzy right now and I would probably be dead. You saved our lives. You haven't changed while I've known you, right? You are the same person I have known for years now. You had a secret I did not suspect, but somehow Lizzy knew but did not understand. Now we know. Does that make you any more dangerous to us? You're a bloody superhero! Well, without the spandex. Or do you dress up like that sometimes? Dani: Well, I do have a Vampirella outfit at home, but I don't wear that often. I'm afraid I'll pop out if I start running wearing it.

Right now, Danielle can only see how frightened Amy and Lizzy were when they saw her in full blown vampire mode. She frightened herself as she had never gone that deep into the monster within. It's fortunate that Dani didn't see what she looked like. She, too, would have been horrified. As for the Vampirella costume, even I don't know if she has one in her closet.

I'm blown away by how calm and collected Amy appears to be; I'm assuming the initial shock has worn off, but I still can't imagine the trauma that this has caused Lizzy - that was the last thing Danielle wanted, and she is really feeling the guilt, shame, and remorse now.

Amy will be dealing with the trauma for some time to come. Her biggest challenge, at the moment, is accepting the fact that supernatural beings exist, and that her friend is part of that realm. Seeing Danielle so distraught is reminding Amy that her friend is just as emotionally vulnerable as any normal human.

Whoo boy

Dani is her own worst critic.

Poor Danielle. One thing I really appreciate about this story is the humanity of the MC.

artdude2002 at 10:03AM, Feb. 21, 2025

Danielle believes she lost her humanity when she was turned. Those who know her see the kind yet sad person she truly is. Danielle's vampire nature does take control at times, but most times she is able to reign it in.
