Arrrghle… You know what I just realised? A lot of pirates were actually American, who had the official sanction of the governors out of whose states they based their operations. So… you could actually say that talking with your own American accent was “talking like a pirate” :P

If you wanted to be a really COOL pirate, then you'd talk like a Jamaican, since a lot of ex-slaves down there turned to piracy.

…lastly, many famous pirates came from the Barbary coast, so I suppose they'd have an Arab accent- converting to Islam and being a pirate for Barbarossa was one of the ways to avoid slavery for many foreign POWs. Allahrgh Akbar?
