Well, my partner and I have have decided to come up with a project that will be great. The idea is this: Sketch Battle. We have artists duking it out with witty reparté and sketchy drawings. I want to have 8 “combatants” to do round robin style battles.

The main idea is to stretch the writing and drawing muscles that we kinda forget about and just cut loose. We want jabs that may hurt the other guys feelings. We want blood. If you sign up for this sketch battle, be forewarned, you willget made fun of. It's rap battles but for comic creators. Plus, it'll be good publicity for your comic even if you lose your battles. It's gong to be a round robin style tourney and then the winners go head to head and he winner get inducted into the hall of fame. Sounds simple enough, mais non?

But for this project to succeed, we need participation. We need dedicated comic makers with a fair archive so people have some fuel for the fire.

So far here's the qualifications:

-15 - 20 comics as a base.
-NO SPRITE COMICS.
-No excessive nudity. I'm gonna say a little is okay. But this rule may change.
-a consistant schedule of updates. That's 2 times a week for a month and a half or 2 and a half months at once a week.
-hand drawn comics a plus. Tablet drawn is fine as well. Mouse drawing I may have to take a pass on unless it's exceptional.
-artist and writers can enter as a duo such as McFadyn(aka: Laika) and I (JayFantastico).

The voting will be done in the comments section and registered users can only vote.

Edit: one of the cardinal rules for this sketch battle thing: vote for the best battle and not the battler. This is key and I forgot to mention it. This is for comics with a smaller fanbase so that they can still participate and not fear getting swamped by someone elses huge number of fans.

Not trying to shoot down you idea but this sounds allot like Fightsplosion.

You might want to check out that part of the forum and see if you can work with them since they already have tons of participants.

It is similar except this would be jabs at the comic itself and not so much the characters or whatever. Plus, I want these to be as funny as possible.

EDIT: I set up a basic site to use. I've decided to call it “The Pen is Mightier” for the reasons of it's going to show off the writing chops more than anything and if you take out the space between pen and is you get something a tad obscene and hilarious, showing that we're there to have fun.

I'm interested, but school and work are boggin' me down and it's hard enough to find time to draw my own comic of late.

But still, I'm interested.

It'll only be one “battle” per week for the round robin tourney that way, I was hoping it wouldn't be an over burden to many. Laika and I are going to do an example so that people can get the idea of how it's going to be. If you want in, send me your TPiM profile. I kinda want it to be 530x680. It should have your name, age (if you want), little tidbits about yourself. Those will get posted in the forum I have set up or on the site itself. I hope you can make it man! I like your stuff!

This sounds like an interesting project. I think I'd like to get involved. Maybe I'll wait to see this example before I sign up officially.
