Does anybody else have pre-posting anxiety?

I've set about a time frame to update my comic, and alot of the pages are just sitting here ready to be uploaded and I'm constantly fighting the temptation to pre empt my own schedule and just post stuff right away…

Anybody else experience this?

*raises hand* All the time. I've always got a few finished pages or drawings I didn't post yet, but I'm trying to keep my schedule. …It's really hard though. Right now I'm feeling very, very tempted to upload something. D:

Don't sit on them - the temptation will get the better of you!

Upload them with forward dates. You can't change the “live date” once a page is uploaded and the hassle of deleting them and then re-uploading them in the right order should be enough to stop you posting them ahead of schedule!

Oh that's nothing… What about when a page is 2 months late, and it's finished… But you're anxious about posting it at all because its so late. Maybe anxious about making the finishing touches because of that?

yeah, that's murder. :(

how about post-posting depression?
definitely have that especially when you have no buffer and life keeps you from finishing the next page.

Heh, after years of TTG updating only monthly with occasional blips like that, this is something we've gotten used to at least. :) If a page is late, it's late, no worries… put that sucker up, it's a great relief to FINALLY have it done that way. :)

Updating monthly since January, 2005!

Oh jeez. That's happening right now to me. I've already uploaded two brand new pages (that go live on Friday, BTW) but they've been taking so long to get up anyway. I think it was about a month before I finally updated again (after my computer was in the shop for two weeks).

I couldn't agree more. I load immediately, but always stick to my update schedule. Sometimes I've posted updates three weeks out. With my production schedule I never know when I can do more panels.

Post it to go up the day you usually update. Not today's date. Keep to schedule. Posting on a whim can (and will) come back to bite you on the butt when you don't have the page done which will always happen. This way you can get ahead of schedule.

I'll be honest, I always give in to the temptation to post. I only ever kept to a schedule once, for about 2 weeks…and then I started posting the pages all at once again…

I think I need to actually create a schedule. I would probably get a lot more out of what I make, especially since I'm on page 8 after three days, and all of them have been posted already.

It's hard when you're on a roll, though. Having that page posted keeps me wanting to make more and more. It also works out because I don't plan out what I'm going to do anymore. I get too stressed out and it drains the inspiration and drive right out of me when I plan things ahead of time. This comic I'm doing right now is all on-the-spot, and I refuse to plan anything past the page I am drawing at that moment.

It's actually way more fun than the comics I've done before.

Ok… so I ended up posting an extra page this week… I caved but I figure the more frequently I post the more I have to keep drawing and writing, which can only be a good thing…

2 months is nothing! I just posted a page 2 years late! (that's really nothing to brag about Jonko…)
