does this bother anyone else?

sorry, I'm in a Negative Nancy kinda mood and it bothers me that “control panel” is spelled wrong. Underneath some people's comic title, it says “DD Forums” etc “Control Pannel”.
I thought I could get used to it and tried to ignore it, but it keeps gnawing away at my soul.
Maybe it's because I'm one of those people who derives existential peace from correct spelling/grammar.
(but could someone change that? would it be hard?)
:)

Heh! That's from the old versions of my Black/white templates, before we had any links at all (above the comics) to those things, the new version I made of the template eliminates them completely… But the new ones just haven't been implemented… :(

Anyway, Pannel, is simply an older spelling for panel, it's closer to the latin routes, so it's not technically incorrect. It's actually still in use too for some archaic things!
Dictionary.com:
1. A kind of rustic saddle.

2. (Falconry) The stomach of a hawk.

3. (Mil.) A carriage for conveying a mortar and its bed, on a march.

Route of “Panel”: Middle English, piece of cloth, from Old French, probably from Vulgar Latin *pannellus, diminutive of Latin pannus, cloth; see pan- in Indo-European roots.

I yearn for a web interface in Middle English. If only for all the e-mails about how things are spelled wrong.

I still remember talking about the story “The Colour Out of Space” and heard, “Well, if Lovecraft was such a brilliant writer, how come he spelled ‘color’ wrong.”

Heh! Well Kirsten was right that I still spelled it wrong in that context :)

Oh yes, colour and color… One of the first mistakes in webdesign by speakers of non-US English… Also “center” and “centre”…
