I'm bored. Sooooo horribly bored. So I figured I'd ask a question that everyone else has probably asked…

What's everyone's favorite thing to make art in the real world? I'm not talking photoediting program, I'm talking charcol v.s. ink v.s. prismacolors v.s watercolors.

I'll start. I use regular cardstock to sketch on ‘cus I’m cheap, micron pens, and prismacolor markers.

I love my ballpoint pens. Sure, they don't give me very fine or accurate lines, but they are cheap and easy to come by.

I used to do a comic which I colored with Prismacolor markers. I don't know if I'll do that again on a long-term basis. It got time-consuming and if you messed up, that was it. It creates a neat texture though and it was a unique look.

I did another comic with crayons and markers. :) That was fun. More neat textures and unique looks. It was actually kind of hard sometimes to make the crayon coloring look like more than just something from a coloring book. (Hmm, in retrospect maybe I should have tried to make the comic look more like a coloring book…)

I like working with my brush pen, even though I haven't drawn anything with it in almost 2 years. It required a certain carefulness but once I got used to it I could make things look good. Fine lines were hard, as were big sweeps… but I liked sitting down to use it.

I don't really mind the one-shot ness of the prismas, I've found that for some small muckups I can fix it with the blending pen, and anything else I can just kinda touch up before I post it.

I'm gonna have to go with markers, which I haven't used in a long time. Photoshop has actually proven itself the cheaper investment in the long run.

AOORAAGHH I do everything with Prismacolor markers :D

Really. They're $3 a pop, but when you use a lot of them or want more than a very basic range of colors….

There are better markers out there. I just didn't find out about them until I'd put an investment into my Prismas. If I had to do it again I'd go with the refillable kinds though.

I would love using prismacolors/markers/pencils/acrylics/watercolors if I didn't suck so bad at using traditional media >.>

I'm still looking around for some good traditional media coloring tutorials…

Oh, I have a deep love affair with my refillable copic markers :3 You can even switch out the nibs to get different effects. I have the 72 set C, but I want to get the other sets >_> I also have some prisma cool greys, and a set of copic warm greys. Prismas are more vibrant in color, but don't blend as well as copics (at least in my opinion). Copics were created to imitate watercolors :3

Anyways…XD That's my favorite real media.

Oil paint is a interesting medium, but the cost of doing a comic with them would be astronomical.

I like using pencil and pens usually since they're portable and relatively clean.

However, back when I was doing studio art assignments in university, I tried to stay away from the usual pen and paper stuff. I liked doing temporary things so I drew on my body and on the walls (it's temporary because I always had to paint over it in the end.)

But for comics…yeah, ordinary mechanical pencil and pens. I used to have this thing for 0.05 size pens.

I like watercolor.. *__*

But for comics and general artness, I use a $2 pack of mechanical pencils and super cheapo printer paper. All inking is done on photoshop because my hands are sooo unsteady.

I'm working on a new one though, for reals. It's scripts for now though. I want to make sure I have at least 6 good chapters before I start drawing anything, and then at least one chapter before I start posting anything. So it's months away still. T_T

One thing about my comic I'm looking forward to is that each chapter will be a seperate story. That means I can switch artisit and writing styles between chapters so I may get to do stuff with markers again, or other media.

i like to sketch with a reg pen an reg school paper

I recently discovered the joys of Bristol board, so that's really my paper of choice for TEO nowadays, but everything else I draw is either in one of a bunch of sketchbooks or hastily scrawled on whatever piece of scrap paper I can find. As for pens, I mostly use Sakura Microns. As for paint, watercolors rule, because the colors are easy to layer and you can just draw right on top of them when you're done.
