Who's at work right now?

Just curious, for those of us who have jobs, who comes here while they're actually at work? I guess you can say school too if you're there. I'll go first since I spent 6 of my 9 hours here yesterady.
God needed the Devil, the Beatles needed the Rolling Stones, Hakoshen needs me.
I'm the enemy he requires to define him.
Soon or later, he'll bring me back to life again for another epic encounter of shouting about power levels and grimacing.

At school. Gotta take notes you know…I just happened to have turned on the Wi-Fi by “accident.”

I'm lucky to be still employed. Just in 1 month, at least 10 employees were laid off.

Still sending out resumes. Thinking of a way to jump ship. lol

Sometimes while I'm in class. Mostly with this one lecturer who always turns up late. That is, when I actually turn up at all.

You can mark me down. I use my lunch break to cruise the forums–which I rarely have time to do at home, since home is where I actually create my comic.

Art History II. This class is so boring…Although Albrecht Durer is slightly better than studying Altarpieces.

Ha. You know, until my abortive stint in grad school, I had no idea people got on the internet during class! I mean, no one brought laptops to class when I was in college. Crazy how much stuff changes in just a few years, huh?

I'm currently at my “full-time job” of submitting resumes and cover letters to any and all open positions that are even remotely feasible. (Including part-time, minimum wage stuff locally but only full-time positions anywhere that would require me moving.) – It's at least as frustrating as a real job, but I don't get paid for it and see absolutely no progress from it. -_-

I miss grad school, especially my teaching assistant gig. I used to surf the internet during office and open-door tutoring hours. It was just like what I do at home, except I got paid because I was in an office. :)

I hear you. Especially since my ditz of a teacher doesn't ever actually teach us much. I could be doing homework or trying to get my work into galleries right now. Or even building up a base of work to get into galleries. I wouldn't mind it if I actually ended up learning something more than how to B.S.

Aw… But them's my favorites! (For real. I'm a printmaker, so Durer's like God to me; and my thesis has a lot to do with Gothic altarpieces.) ;)

I used to spend a lot of my digital multimedia classes here, since it's actually one of the few sites “Bess” doesn't block, but I don't have any classes in the computer lab anymore and our school doesn't have wifi.

I haven't taken printmaking yet. There's a rumored lithography class that's supposed to happen next semester though, and I plan on taking it if it exists.

^^. When I was in high school, my favorite website was blocked. I sent a long grueling email to the people in charge of the blocking program. It was unblocked in a week.

your comic reminds me of his intricately detailed woodblock prints. :)
I never liked doing printmaking too much myself… I loved doing the etching, engraving, preparing etc, but not the printing: way too messy and clunky a process. I always hated mess in artwork.
Which is why I could paint in my very best clothes and not get a spot on me. :)
No icky paint smeared smocks for me!

I get online during work because I get bored, and drawing at work isn't fun.

That's why you need to pay people like me to print stuff for you. Heh. I feel you, though- printing is my least favorite part. That's why I want to be a professor- so I can have an army of undergraduate slave labor to print stuff for me. lol!

Most printmakers (including myself) are actually neat freaks/ obsessively organized. I do know some “messy” printmakers, but usually we scoff at them and tell them to get back to painting, where they belong. ;)

I know your pain. This is an especially hard time to be looking for work with so many layoffs happening.

You might want to check in with the people you knew from that office, and use networking sites like LinkedIn to see if you can leverage things. It's hard slogging, so I wish you the best!

Now that's the trick I missed in printmaking ;)

All I could do to get around the mess was be extra careful, wash up well, and try and avoid the horrible stinky oil based inks. … Even though my lecturers frowned on it I used the acrylic stuff for pretty much everything and it worked nicely. SO much easier to clean up. -_-

I do all three at work… Less of the booze and the sleep while in the office, but it has been known. :)

I think I should do comic stuff instead of hanging around here…

But I'll probably be surfing DD when I can.

While my job does allow for a lot of time to draw while I'm there, there's no kind of photo editing software so I'd have to wait until I get home and redo it on the PC. Just as well, pages I do on paper first turn out better anyways.

Due to an extreme lack of business, most of my time at work is spent on DD. But it's okay cuz, while i'm doing that, my boss is on the other end of the building watching movies.
