Vampire Template

Name: Nicholas Segrove
Aliases: Many. Most current is Shadowstrike.

Race: Vampire

Gender: Male

Age Turned: 23

Sire: Unknown. (See description.)

Vampiric Age: 488

Weapons: Two 12“ silver daggers, and an enchanted shortsword named Thirstblade. Thirstblade is enchanted to magically absorb and preserve any blood it touches up to about 2 quarts. The blood can later be drained and used for healing, research, or whatever else it may be needed for. He has also been known to use various poisons.

Main Magic: Darkness. Nick has almost totally pefected the art of becoming a shadow, and is very nearly totally invisible even without a dark spot to hide in. He can also manipulate darkness very well, able to surround two or three people with inky blackness at once without tremendous effort. It is within his capicity to, say, blind a crowd of people in such a manner, but doing so will drain him fast.

Minor Magic: Speed and Super Strength. Nick has focoused mainly on honing his reflexes and speed, and while not perfect, it will still give hin a distinct advantage in combat, as he will be able to dodge attacks that most would have been hit by. It's also useful in conjunction with his Darkness powers, making it possible to move quickly and undetected.

Appearance: Despite Nick being turned at a relatively young age (effectively extending his physical ”prime“ another couple hundred years), he looks older than he should - almost 30 or 35. He has long, rough black hair that is almost always tied back. (”I like long hair. I do not like said hair getting in my eyes while I'm trying to kill someone.“) His eyes, a sharp contrast to his hair, are an icy blue. In the past hundred years or so he has taken to experimenting with styles of beards, and has recently become fond of a short goatee.

His outfit varies, but he is usually seen wearing a loose black cloak over tight black leather armor with armored plates attatched to the front of his legs, the outside of his arms, and the front and back of his torso. He calls it the ”perfect blend of style and practicaliy“. The armor provides the maximum protection without hampering his movement much, and the cloak disguises his defenses and makes it easier to blend in with the shadows. His daggers are concealed in his armor, and he wears Thirstblade under his cloak on his left hip.

Background: Nick became a vampire long before the war that drove what was left of humanity into hiding. One might say he bacame a vampire by accident. Nick became a vampire for the sole reason that his ”sire“ was in the middle of feeding on him when the town watch passed and attacked the vampire feeding on him. One of them managed to get in a good shot before the vampire fled, and some of the blood splashed into Nick's mouth. Nick was turned instantly. Thankfully, the watchmen did not notice the change, and after he assured them that he wasn't hurt, they left him. Nick, however, was totally lost. He didn't know what had happened, or what he had become (for though he was healed, he felt very different). It was only through blind luck that he was back in his house come sunrise, or he would have been burnt to ashes instantly. It was also luck that, when he bagan feeling a craving no amount of food or drink would satisfy, he made the connection between the man who had attacked him and his apparent need for blood. That night, Nick killed his first human being - a homeless man he found sleeping on the streets. He hadn't meant to kill him, but as soon as he tasted the blood he couldn't stop himself from drinking every last drop. Nick was still confused about what he had become, but at least he knew how to survive.

Contact with humans was unavoidable at that point in time, so after several years in social exile he did the only thing he could think of - he exploited his inhuman abilities and became a contract killer. The position allowed him to mask his true nature very effectively. His less-than-living appearance, as well as his nocturnal habits, could be easily explained by the fact that it was easiest to kill someone quietly at night. So, he had pale skin and ”dead“ features because he hadn't been out in the sun in so long. (Ironically, this was not far from the truth.) His exceptional combat abilities were easily explained away as well; who in their right mind would become an assassin if they couldn't fight? Best of all, the job supplied him with a steady supply of food - the person was dead anyway, so he'd simply drink a pint or two of their blood, then poison them afterwards and it looked like the work of a simple assassin and not… something else. Very rarely was the missing blood noticed, and even more rarely did anyone think oddly of it.

Finally, after almost two hundred years, Nick began hearing reports of strange killings, in which the victims were found drained of blood, with two puncture marks on their necks. Nick immediately recognized the symptoms of his own victims, and realized that there might be more of whatever he was out there. The attacks were localized to one city, so nick travelled there immediately. He searched every underground club, every shantytown, every hole-in-the-wall hideout until he finally found what he was looking for. One night, while wandering the streets, he saw a pale figure run across the street with astonishing speed. Nick followed him down an alley, where he found him leaning over a sleeping figure. Nick gasped in a mixture of shock, amazement and joy when it became obvious that the pale figure was feeding on the sleeping person. The pale man looked up, saw Nick, and fled. Nick gave chase. For a few blocks the pale man would not slow down even for a second, but when he noticed that Nick was keeping up, even gaining on him, he stopped, realizing that there were very few creatures on Earth that could move at that speed.

”What are you?“ the pale man asked in a slightly ragged, but commanding voice when Nick caught up.
”I… I don't know. But from what I've seen, I think you might be able to tell me,“ Nick replied, his voice wavering.
The man paused, evidently sizing Nick up. ”Let me see your teeth,“ he said finally.
Nick looked at him, confused. ”My…“
”Your teeth, son. Only way to tell right off the bat.“
Nick hesitantly opened his mouth, fangs glistening in the moonlight.
The man smiled and clapped his hands together. ”Hah! Thought so. You're a vampire, son. Those pearly whites there are a dead giveaway.“
”A vam… a what?“ Nick asked, confused.
The man smiled and shook his head. ”I see you've got some things to learn. What's your name?“
”Nick. Nicholas Segrove.“
”Well. Nick, you'd better come with me. You've got a lot to learn.“
”Okay… but… where are going?“ Nick asked as the man turned and began walking.
The man glanced over his shoulder and said nothing but, ”Home."
Light a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day.
Light a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Name: Sarah Hawk

Race: Vampire

Gender: Female

Age Turned: 21

Vampiric Age: 242

Weapons: A mysterious dagger who was left by her side when she was turned.

Main Magic: Fire

Appearance: Sarah is 5'3“, has black hair, and pale skin. She is fairly thin, and a little attractive. She wears a dark gray dress with a matching shirt.

Background: Sarah Hawk was brona nd raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Her father left her mother when she was young, and her mother was diagnosed with cancer when she was ten.

Left with only a brother in the world, Sarah was raised by him. He trained her a little on using knives in battle and to defend herself.

She lived happily until her 18th birthday, when her brother, who was planning on a surprise party, was mysteriously slain by, as described by a passerby as a giant man with a bigger sword and long hair.

The one person who gave a damn was dead, and she lived on her own. She eventually began to notice a very tall, attractive man who was following her, constantly writing in a notebook on rooftops or park benches at night. She tried to engage him in conversation, but he always disappeared.

One night, in a pit of depression, Sarah stepped to the edge of the tallest building still standing in Phoenix, Arizona, and jumped. She recalled only a scream of her name, and a pain on her neck.

When she awoke, she saw a hazy image of a tall man with glowing yellow eyes scribbling on paper, and placing it beside her with a dagger. she lost consciousness once again, and awoke in a destroyed city, the people slain by vampires, and her mouth full of blood.

When reading the note, she became angered, and vowed to take revenge on the man who turned her and left her. She traveled and became a master of the dagger, in hopes of someday holding the man's severed head in her hands.

Name: Tor Fry (Tore Free)
Alias: The Demon of the Ghast

Race: Vampire

Gender: Male

Age Turned: Born a vampire.

Vampiric Age: 500

Weapons: Sword.

Height: 7'3”

Weight: 250 lbs. (Not overweight, he just has a lot of body mass, and is muscular. Doesn't look as heavy as he is.)

Main Magic: Darkness. He also can use Blood magic as a secondary ability. He has the ability to tap into other's minds, but can't filter out his own thoughts. If he does it, they hear his mind. (NOTE: This is only his MAIN magic. He can use other magic, but screws up a good 60% of the time.)

Natural Abilities: Can smell well (like Connor), he's powerful, and fast.

Appearance: Tor Fry is muscular (more than my other characters, but not too) and stands at an impressive 7'3“. He has spiky black hair, which goes down in two strips on either side, and then spikes out on the right. In the front he has two white spikes, and in the back he has the remain sof a white braid that he tore off. Strangey, he has four fangs on his upper jaw, rather than two.

Attire: He wears a sleeveless gray shirt, and baggy black pants (Like Trip Iseng(sp?) pants.) Which have the fly stitched up. He wears black fingerless gloves, and boots. He usually wears a cool cape which goes on like a vest in two strips over hsi shoulders, and then in the back connects until the bottom of his back where it splits into two wing-ish things. (If you want, i can upload a pic).

Background: Tor Fry was born a vampire, and never understood until the war began.

How Tor was born a vampire, it is a complete mystery to his mother, anyone he meets, and himself. He came out a very strong vampire, however, he would definitely lose in a battle with Jack, no matter how good he could do.

Tor was raised to be a warrior, and slay anyone in his way, which he has done for a long time.

His mother found out he was a vampire when he was only a moth old. Breast milk didn't satisfy him, and she saw his fangs. She thought the worst, and slit her wrist. He drank the blood. She promised that she would never tell him what he was, and that she would feed him, rather than let him feed.

One day, Tor was only a young child, and she couldn't feed him with her own blood. She went to a man who had been in love with her for a long time, seduced him, and killed him. She drained his blood, and fed it to her child.

The same process went on for years, and one day, he saw her hands bloody when she came home with a cup of blood. She made him promise never to harm a living human being, or take their lives or humanity. He didn't understand, but he accepted. He kept that promise to this very day.

At the age of 13, his mother was found out for feeding her ”Demonic“ son. She was burned alive, and he never knew this happened.

He wandered the earth, draining people in the Revolutionary war and civil wars only after they had died, and was the motivation for many vampire rumors. He made sure they had been killed BEFORE draining them.

In the 70's when hospitals began to collect blood, he constantly broke into them and stole packets.

He joined multiple gangs, including one which called themselves the ”Great Vampire Council“ which only claimed to be the way they were. They had claimed to be the oldest and strongest, and all members ruled over a couple of small towns, which they claimed to be the only living humans.

One day he found out that Orlock was the real man they were taking credit for, and tore off his braid in the back which proved he was a member. He returned to slay the group, but found them already dead, and hid as he watched Jack ”Darkness" Prince walk out of the gore.

During the war he stole blood from refugee camps, never harming another in the process.

One time he tried to help a dying woman who he had met before a raid after she died. He knew not of the consequences, but he preformed a drone spell, and turned her into his servant, not knowing it would bring her back as a guardian, rather than just her old self. He was devastated, but had no heart to destroy her.

He then vowed to become like Jack, and to make sure their race doesn't kill all the humans.

He did this without Orlock, and has been pretty successful.

Tor, being as passive as he is, lives in a state where he's standing on the edge of sanity, and on the other side of the cliff is a blood lust, being that he merely takes as much blood as needed to heal slowly, and no more. The only reason he's not insane is because he's used to the feeling, and doesn't realize it.

Since this is the case, when he gets wounded severely, he goes into a berserk state, where his instinct taker over his body for a short time, meanwhile his metabolism begins to speed up and heal him back to sanity within a few minutes, producing enough blood to survive and heal on his own.

The instinct, however, is a completely different person. It cares not about humans, and is willing to kill anyone to accomplish a goal. However, Tor is unaware of the presence of it. It calls itself, as his mother once called him, “The Retsnom,” which is “Monster” backwards.

The Retsnom's eyes are a glowing pure blood red, and spikes extend from different parts of Tor's body.

There have been three cases where beings (dubbed at Retsnom by a tall, mysterious man who managed to survive an attack unharmed), destroyed complete civilizations. It is rumored that a retsnom may be able to take down Orlock, but the only evidence (a picture of a shadowed demon, stories tall) had mysteriously disappeared along with the man who took it.

However, this is only a legend; the existence of such a race of monstrous vampire is only a simple myth, and it is unknown whether Tor's form “The Retsnom” is the same kind of being mentioned in olden texts.

IT'S ME!
*air horn sirens*

Any who
Name: Ziarre Zaccher (Zie-air Zackur)
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Age turned: 19
Vampiric Age: 48
Weapons:
A staff with a blade hidden in it (she turns the middle of the staff in order for it to come out of the end), and a ruby mounted on the opposite end. Also wields a fire-blackened knife with an identical ruby set in the hilt
Main Magic:
Fire, creating it, manipulating it…
Appearance:
Short boy-cut black hair, pale skin, green eyes. Ziarre looks like a boy. She wears gray, simple, baggy clothes, has cut her hair short, because her long hair was getting in the way of her using her magic.
History:
Ziarre's mother was born in Egypt, but she quickly ran away, due to vampire infestation. She came across a human refugee camp, and met Ziarre's father. They fell in love and had 7 children. Six boys and…Ziarre.

Ziarre lived in the mountain refugee camp until she was 19. A clan of vampires attacked her home and killed her family. She was left for dead, until one of the vampires tried to drain Ziarre of her blood. After biting her, another vampire pushed him off of Ziarre, telling him that he'd had his share this month. The second vampire tried to slit her throat, but the first vampire pushed him, making vampire #2 cut himself on the knife.

The blood spattered onto Ziarre's face and into her mouth.
While it wasn't a lot of blood, it was enough to turn her, painfully.

Personality:
Ziarre has a bad temper, and is often impatient. She frequently takes her anger out by setting things on fire, punching random people, and kicking random objects.
While she isn't very strong, she requires on speed and agility to defeat her enemies. Also, Ziarre doesn't really talk like other people, when she's calm or tired, she has her mountain accent peeking through her speech. And when she's angry, she doesn't have the accent.

Name: Drake
Gender: Male
Race: Vampire
Age turned: 21
Vampiric Age: 97
Weapons: Twin war gauntlets. Giant metallic gloves which slide onto the hands, the fingers are longer and extended by about an half of the finger length cumulating in sharpened fingertips.
Main magic: shadow magic
Other magic: none, Drake is incapable of any other type.
Appearance: Drake is tall and gaunt standing about 1m70 with raven black hair, hanging down from his to the small of his back. His hair smooth and flat with spiked edges, this is in sharp contrast with his skin which is exceedingly pale and shallow. Drake wears a black leather trench coat over a black t-shirt accompanied by black trousers and leather boots.
History
For his early life he lived in a large but isolated village, until a vampire raid attacked the undefended village. In one day three quarters of the population were killed, the rest taken as captives and forced to march with the clan for miles on end. Under such conditions, many perished on the impossible death march, falling in heaps on the roadside to be pounced upon by waiting stomachs. Seizing his first chance, Drake fled into the surrounding woods, but fatigue and hunger soon caught up with him and he collapsed shortly afterwards. Barely managing to hide himself from the vampiric trackers sent into the area looking for him. Drake managed to hide himself for five days before he was found by the clans most experienced tracker, impressed by the abilities of the emaciated youth, the vampire turned him to one of his own. His new sire, called Melkior, took him back to the clan. Drake was both enraptured and horrified by his new vampiric form, was shocked to discover how his former friends rejected him. Hurt and confused, he turned to the one person who seemed to care about him, his sire. Pleased, Melkior began his induction immediately, training and shaping him.
Drake easily fitted in with the other trackers particularly Melkior's own teammates, Lucifer, Crest, Baal and the youngest Memnoch. But as time passed Drake's moods became more extreme, every year they were worse, he both hated and loved his new vampiric form. Confused,Drake left his clan, urged on the mysterious voice in his head.

It was only later that the voice revealed its hand, revealing to Drake that it was in fact a part of himself, and was seeking to gain complete control. Drake mentally wrestled it to a standstill. While hunting for the infamous “Ezekiel”, Drake performed a dangerous shadow spell, taught to him by his sire, to imprison his alternate half in side his own shadow. Now completely sentient, his shadow has become anthropomorphic. It's personality a dark mirror as Drake seeks to continue his own path while avoiding the most powerful hunters of all, his own clan.

Name: Alexander Braun
Race: Vampire
Gender: Male
Age Turned: 27
Vampiric age: about 220 years. Very weak vampire, manages basic spells, and only hovers at most.
Weapons: Alex Braun quickly realised that a sword was better than a gun, because very soon the supply of bullets would run out, but a sword wouldn’t. He carries a simply long sword with a black hilt. Near the tip of the blade in small writing is Carpe Noctum; Seize the night in Latin.

Main magic: Light, and some basic earth spells.

Skills: Fluent at English and German, knows a few words in other languages. Though self taught with the long sword, he has the advantage of sheer brute force against grace, though being a little clumsy on his feet, he can hold his own in battle, if he has to fight. He knows a few basic punches and kicks, but with his vampire strength, he has found it is enough.

Personality: Alex Braun is a pleasant, but somewhat held back soul. He tends to keep to himself as he passes by, but through conversation he is an animated, intelligent individual. He loves to laugh and relax when with certain people, but they have been few and far between as humanity has been slipping away. Alex long ago accepted that he was a vampire, and devised himself a code with which to live by, whether he is even living or not. This mans seems to breath history, and never fails to tell you something interesting or pointless. On the surface, all seems well, he could even be called normal, but underneath something troubles him. When pressed upon the subject of family, he instantly closes up, preferring other history rather than his own. Whilst he gives the impression of being blessed with a saintly patience, his temper flairs up easily if he mixes with the wrong people. He doesn’t think the humans as beneath him, and rarely harms one, though he did kill a few men in self defence about 70 years ago. He is very scholarly, and has given himself the personal quest of recording all the history in the world. Alex is widely travelled, only ever settling in a place of interest for a while, then moving on. Every few years, when his books are full of notes and drawings, he returns to Germany and stores the information away, safe.

Appearance: Many people mistake him for a human, with tan skin and short, rough blonde hair, he is hardly the pale corpse that goes with the image of a vampire. At 6ft 1" he's quite tall, and strongly built though his clothing hides this easily. The only slight change from his former self is his bright, emerald eyes and the tell tale fangs. He may use shape shifting magic to hide his eyes and teeth, if he walks among humans. Unlike other vampires, he has been unable to adorn himself with great armour and finery; he normally wears sturdy walking boots, faded blue jeans along with a crew neck jumper and a black coat. He is always seen with a backpack, filled with journals and paper. Hidden under his coat is his long sword, along with some grenades in case something very bad happens. In a side pocket on his coat, is a vial of human blood –willing given- to keep him going.

Background:

Alex Braun, born in Germany and was about 26 when humanity lost its grip on the earth. He was rather unfortunately conscripted into the army to try and turn the tides on the battle. His troop was simply overwhelmed by a single, crazy vampire. Alex cowardly dropped his guns and stayed low in a ditch until the massacre was over. If he had stayed low in the ditch, he may have avoided the fate of being turned, but fear made his judgment irrational. He ran for a few feet before a vampire had set upon him, tearing out a neat chuck on flesh on his shoulder. The vampire had only managed a few mouthfuls of blood before Alex pulled out a pistol and shot them in the knee. After that he fled the scene, and turned very painfully in the confines of a cave.

He stayed there a few nights, the fact he was a vampire dawning on him. He had studied enough about them to know what he needed, blood. Alex managed to return home, only to find his home deserted. Drowned in misery and loneliness, Alex had no interest in the gangs of vampires, or of finding his family, inside he knew they were dead. After a few weeks, the hunger started to kick in, and Alex had to kill a man. He lived like this, brooding and only coming out to find blood.

It wasn’t until one day, after a couple years did he bump into an old mentor from university –Alex had studied at Oxford- who had also been turned. His vampire companion had turned his wife and teenage son, in order to save them. Alex remained with them a while, learning to take only small amount of blood from humans. They managed to find a cabin lodge in the hills of Sweden, in the cold were few vampires strayed. Alex enjoyed peace for a few years, learning skills from his old mentor and becoming friends with the teenage son. A small tribe of humans lived nearby, who were willing to give blood for protection.

Eventually, when Alex had read every book in the house several times, he developed a thirst for knowledge. The desire to record all he could took a few years to grow, before he seriously committed himself to the idea. Over the next 200 years, Alex has spent his time travelling nearly all of the known world, gathering and collecting information. He has met many characters, both human and vampire, though his fate is connected to a rather unlikely person.

Name: Amila Locke
Age: 20 years
Race: Human
Gender:Female!
Height: 5ft 4in
Weight: 8 stone ish -very slim but a little pear shaped!

Appearance: Amila’s appearance is based around the practical and slightly dangerous life she leads. She has strong running legs and is quite athletic, her figure might have been curvy and her bust large in a more luxurious lifestyle, but she is quite small perhaps a little on the thin side. She maintains good hygiene as her mother taught her, and is normally clean and tidy, her hair is thick and an unnaturally curly. In a time without mousse and hair straightness, she sorts out the hair trouble by keeping it short and cropped. Her skin colour is tanned in the areas exposed to the sun, but pale in other places. Her eyes are a firm, kind brown, intelligent and slightly grim.

Her clothes are basic and quite worn, old combat trousers that have been stitched and patched in quite a few places. In cooler weather she wears a thin long sleeves grebe top with a black body warmer which conveniently has some bullet proof panels in it. When she is travelling she wears an old knitted hat which keeps the hair out of her face, around her waist is a small pack filled with matches and other odds and ends. Normally slung across her back is a backpack filled with an advanced first aid kit, some rations and a bible. Around her neck is a small silver cross handed down from her mother.

Personality: Amila is a devoted Christian, and a practised ‘healer’. She is skilled at calming a person and patching them up quickly. She can perform very minor surgery such as cutting out a bullet or stitching up a wound. Amila knows how to soothe a person and keep them calm as she tends to their injuries. She knows very little of weaponry, and thus relies of others to protect her, but her knowledge of first aid makes her invaluable to any group. Amila does her best not hate the vampires because of the Ten Commandments, but she does however fear them, and does her best to avoid them at all costs. Being on the run almost her entire life, and a common enemy with other humans has made her focused and perhaps a little bitter. She works tirelessly to perverse what is left of the humanity and its’ culture.

Amila is also a bit of a book lover, and rescues old books when ever she can. She loves the peace of old churches, and when she comes across one, she always kneels and prays for a moment.

Background:

Amila was born into a group of people who had spent most of their lives running from the vampires. Her father was the high spirited man, who used the bible and it’s teaching to keep the people humoured and in faith, because in desperate times, people need something to cling too. Amila grew up learning the stories of Christ and the sacrifice he made for humanity, and in her late teens realised she would do the same for the dwindling numbers of humans.

Amila’s mother taught her daughter about the art of healing and doctoring sick people, Amila learnt some of the basic of medicine and some plants. The group was always moving and quite rarely attack by vampires, but every so often a person wandered too far and was dragged away into the night.

A few years ago, her parents discovered a network of caves deep underground, only accessible via a single entrance deep in a pine forest. They named it the ‘Safe Guard’, which would become their permanent home. Amila’s father is now rather aged, and so passed his mission onto his only daughter. She and a group of highly skilled fighters go out most nights to find other humans and hopefully reunite a small amount of humanity.

Update: Amila's life changed very dramatically in a single night, when Nick Segrove, an contract killer killed her boyfriend, and then approached Amila with the offer of eternal life. Leaving her confused, she accepted his offer to meet him a church the next evening to decide her fate, not understanding what he would actually offer. He offered a chance for peace, a chance for her family to stop running. She has been working with the vampire race since then, rather than against them, and together she and Nick managed to set up The City, a safe place for humans and vampires.

As ‘Leader’ of the humans, a lot of duty has fallen on the young woman's shoulders, and she at moments finds it hard to keep up with everything, or believe that so much has happened in less than a few months. Since the City started, Amila's short, stubbon hair has grown to shoulder length, and she seems to be happier, but something has changed. Amila feels her ‘connection’ with God is fading somewhat, and is now prone to ask more questions about her faith, rather than accepting what ever happened.

She spends most of her time working in the Blood Banks in the city, perhaps giving a bit too much of her blood, but the flourishing population has made it worth it in her eyes. When not in her office in the blood bank, she is found relaxing at home with a book, or talking with her mother and father.

Name: Unknown. Everyone calls him Trilby. As a name, it suffices.

Race: Human?

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown, seems to be in his mid-thirties.

Weapons: Metal gauntlets with sharpened fingers, wired directly into his arms. They are electrified, feeding directly off his bio-electricity. Strangely enough, they work both ways, and he will electrocute himself whenever he activates them.

Appearance: Trilby stands at an unimpressive 5'9". He has short, messy brown hair and brown eyes. He has an average build, for a human. In fact, aside from the gauntlets - not to mention the scars that cover his body - he looks like a perfectly normal human. He wears a tight grey tank top, providing a clear view of the wiring that snakes in and out of his arms. He also wears baggy grey cargo pants, and occasionally a black trenchcoat.

Background: Trilby has no memories of his life before the last three years or so - just an overwhelming sense of deja vu. The first thing he is able to recall coherently is emerging from some sort of glass chamber in a labratory, with IV tubes sticking into him all over his body and feeling like a thousand white-hot needles were running through his blood.

He would later be told that he had voluenteered for a revolutionary new project that was trying to isolate and duplicate the mutation that made vampires what they are. The scientists working on the project had isolated the mutation and even managed to change it slightly so that instead of full-blown vampirism, the subject was instead provided with vampiric speed, strength, and healing, but not the bloodlust. All the scientists needed were test subjects.

That was where Trilby - and dozens of others - came in. The process seemed simple enough - once they had refined the mutagen, it was a simple manner of administering a large dosage of it to a human. The results, however, were less than satisfsctory. Without the direct influence of a sire, the mutagen ran rampant through most of the subject's systems, transforming their bodies so radically that most didn't survive.

Trilby did. The scientists weren't sure why - some of them thought he simply had too strong a will to die, others thought his physiology was unique - but what they were sure of was that with Trilby, the experiment was almost a total sucess. Speed, strength, advanced healing - he had it all, and the results were far, far beyond anything the scientists had predicted. He was now, without a doubt, one of the strongest men alive, vampire or otherwise. He no longer needed to sleep, eat, or drink. He has a reduced sensitivity to heat and cold. He did not require blood to survive, but drinking it does let him temporarily use mana. The only thing wrong was that the mutagen drove him insane.

Trilby is, at his very best, random. He does not seem to be able to associate his actions with any sort of reprecussions. At worst, he is completley feral and ballistic, viewing everyone and everything as a threat. At his worst, he has destroyed entire cities in a snigle day. It is only in moments of intense pain that he is able to really control himself and form rational, complete thoughts. He is not necessarily evil, he simply can't control himself most of the time.

Trilby doesn't like vampires, and has killed countless numbers of them, but he will also associate with them from time to time. For the most part, though, people tend to shun him as a danger to anyone he gets near.

Light a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Name: Seth Kraven

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 32

Weapons: Various guns, and otherwise whatever he can pick up.

Appearance: Seth is tannish, with messy black hair and a somewhat stocky build. He has brilliant green eyes, and somehow appears slightly shorter than everyone else.

Personality: Seth is pleasant and friendly, quick to smile and a fun person to be around.
He is quick to smile, but can become serious quickly despite his light moods. Seth has been described as ‘scary’ at the least when he's angry. Fortunately, few things make him as angry as this, and he is generally laid back.

Background: Seth's parents were killed by vampires when he was an infant. For one reason or another, the gang decided to spare him and dump him with another human family, perhaps as a joke. He was raised by his adopted mother and father, who fought with each other and were often out hunting vampires. While Seth did not grow to like his parents very much, he became good friends with his uncle, who helped raise him and taught him how to survive as a minority on the now vampire-controlled planet.
Most of his friends did not last or became out of touch, as Seth and his family were constantly moving around to avoid the vampires. After a while, Seth's father died, soon followed by his mother. He tried very hard to feel some remorse for their deaths, but could not. This disturbed him more than anything the vampires had done.
A few years later, at age 17, Seth and his uncle found an old human base that had long ago been abandoned. After a quick lookthrough of the base, his uncle told Seth that it was empty. Seth decided to double check, and heard a noise.
There was a girl about his age sleeping fitfully on the floor in one of the rooms; Seth poked her until she awoke, and she promptly hit him in the jaw.
After this, Seth learned that her name was Brittany, and they grew to be good friends. Brittany never really talked much about herself, despite Seth's urging. He fell in love with her, and she eventually became more comfortable around him.
Basically, after Seth's uncle died, he and Brittany had an unofficial funeral, then an unofficial wedding, and have been traveling ever since.
Seth's view on vampires is unclear.

………..

Name: Brittany

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Age: 30

Weapons: She's rigged a taser to put out a higher electric shock than the norm, and knows karate.

Appearance: Brittany is very pale. She is tall with a slight figure, and has long blonde hair. Her eyes are a very dark blue, and she almost seems delicate.

Personality: Brittany seems very shy unless around Seth. She often commits random acts of violence, normally when in fear, that she later ‘forgets’ about. She seems almost naive, but is likely the polar opposite. She dislikes talking about herself, and would much rather read a book than fight. If she ever became angry, it would be quiet and somehow psychotic.

Background: Brittany's background is known only to herself, and she rarely tells anyone about what happened in the past. All that Seth has been able to pick up is that something horrible happened that changed her. She often has nightmares, and does not trust anyone but Seth, and his uncle when he was still alive.
She is scared to death of vampires, but would still love Seth if he became one; she has often considered what it would be like to be one, if only for one night.
