I hope this New Year is better than the last one. I knew last year was gonna be bad when I woke up New Years Day… to a brown tree snake trying to eat my hand…

Better start to the new year too. Here's hoping for happiness and definitely health this year.

I had an easy start to the new year. I didn't go out and party this time. strangely enough all my friends seemed to have done the same- everyone had quiet nights in XD
I definitely do my fair share are hard partying, but on New Years I was NOT feeling it.

How about you guys?

I am feeling positive about this year though.

Feeling very positive about the year ahead, some exciting new prospects coming. Also getting back to making comics is good. New pages coming soon.

Holy mackerel, 2017 went by fast. I hope this year will be better than 2016 and 2017. Got any new year resolutions?

Mine would be setting a return date for my comic on this site, try to brainstorm new strip ideas, and to get off of my creative slump.

Nice to see a new face 😁

I'm slowly finishing my next comic page too.

I started writing a finale to Used Books. I hope I can get my scripts in order this year – at least a working first draft. (I have points A and F, but B through E need filled out.)

US mid-term elections are this year, and, as always, I hope we can replace most of Congress (but we won't, because Americans fear change far more than the status quo, no matter what it it).

new year kicked me already at work. we only had 3 people in the grooming salon today. and for most of the day it was just 2 of us. X.x so many people coming in at once and calling.

hoping for good things this year. and get more time to draw, or at least not get side tracked to much. and maybe get some character picks done this year.

Holy moly! An end to Used books?

One of the frustrating things that happened a few months back was a data loss, including all the scripts for blood and water. GRRR! granted I know how it goes but still very annoying.

Calling it that gives me an excuse to take off the kid gloves. It's really an inevitable consequence of the direction of story arcs. Considering how final things will be for most of the conflicts, it can be called nothing else but a finale.

There may be a sequel series. Tone and nature may change significantly.

2018 has been a bit of a false start. It's like 2017 hasn't finished tying up loose ends so they have to be dealt with before it can really begin. There's a calm for the moment but I feel like this is going to explode into a big year! I'm really looking forward to seeing it develop either way!

Planning some new endeavours this year, and hoping to really get in the final lap to finish WM's first arc. Here's hoping. :)

My cat Simon is dying and I'm sad. He's 18, but the collapse has been very sudden.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Oz. I lost my childhood cat just a couple years ago, and it still hurts sometimes.

I'm more or less back now. I've been lurking around and catching up on the comics I follow. Now I'm caught up and easing back into the forums.

Aside from having a baby in July, my computer started giving up life around that time too. I moved it into the office so it could recharge easier, so it hasn't been by my side as it used to be. When I handed the awards over to banes to finish, it took twenty minutes just to log into gmail so I could give him my spreadsheet with the nominees and volunteers

I haven't gotten a new one yet, but I hope to get one soon, so I can get back into the site in full.

Sorry to hear that, always sad to lose a long term companion. Had something similar with my cat some years ago. He was 21 and over a couple of weeks the weight fell off him and slept more than was awake, even by cat standards. A few days later I got in, he climbed up and sat next to me, nuzzled in and fell asleep and was soon gone. It was as if he waited until I got home to see me one last time.

@Niccea use your phone or tablet. So much cheaper and easier. These days… No where near as good for some things of course but for simple logons it works well.

That's very sad… Touching :(
Thanks guys.
The vet gave him steroids and antibiotics… Hopefully that will help him improve. If not, I don't know.

That is what I'm using now, but when I do the awards, I use a spreadsheet that neither can handle and I can't draw on my tablet despite how hard I try. So a new computer is a must for me.

Job hunting is stressful and painful. The worst part is when well-meaning people try to give you “advice.” Especially retired people from a different generation who have no clue what job hunting in the 2010s is like. I get it. By their perspective, the unemployed must look like lazy layabout failures.

It has led to me making exhaustive lists of all the places I've applied and been rejected from just to cut off the “Have-you-tried's.” Yes. Yes I have. Please allow me to stress and vent. I don't need advice. I need a damn job.

You can't simultaneously encourage education and shame me for my debt and tell me both to look for minimum wage part-time work and to avoid it. (That point is moot because they won't hire me.) And tell me all the things I should apply for that I know from literally hundreds of experiences their HR won't even glance at my resume because I'm not in that field. I know you want to help, but please stop.

Well meaning “advice” - sister to that special form of “encouragement”, where they tell you all the things they'd be doing if they had your talent.

I was summoned for jury duty and I am spending the morning in the juror lounge watching Netflix and hanging out. I already gave the green light that I am available for a six day trial.

I must need a holiday from work if jury duty looks like a much needed vacation.
