Hey everyone. You might no know me but I run a small comic called SOS Radio on this site. I recently completed the 8th issues to my comic and I wanted to do something special. On this page I've included the base image of the Issue 8 cover. This is where you come in. I'm asking for 4 artists to re-create this cover in their own style and share the results with me. All 5 covers will be segmented into pieces and pieced back together to make the same image but using all 5 art styles.

Now, you won't be doing this for free. Once my book gets back from the editor and the cover is complete I will be sending it to KaBlam to have the physical copy printed. For each person who helps out in this endevor I will reserve half a page for each artist to put up an ad for their own projects. Your ads will remain on all copies of issue 8 until my dyring day. I only ask that the ads be pg13. These ads will also be posted on the SOS Radio webpage with a link to your website. The only one rule I might ask is that all of the lines match up with the core image so that when the ‘scraps’ of the other comics are placed over it it still forms a solid image.

So, if you are interested inquire below. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you need more art for reference my comic can be viewed at https://www.theduckwebcomics.com/SOSRadio/

I was curious, does the comic/product itself has to be pg -13 or just the ad?
And does it have to be a recreation of the cover in our particular art style or do we get a bit of wiggle room using your characters?
I think that's the basic question I can think of.

The ad image needs to be safe for work. I have no problem if the link provided leads to an 18+ comic. I only ask that you include a warning on the image to let people know if the content is basically R rated. As for the image I would actually like it if people use their own style to re create the cover. I would just like it that, if the images were placed one over the other, the basic lines would line up for the most part. Basically the chin would still be where his chin is, the shoulders would line up so on and so forth. Color, shade stle, go nuts. I can't find a clip of it, but if you ever watched The Trueman Show, where Jim Carrey is trying to re-create the image of his lost love using magazine clippings. That's what I'm looking to re-create.

I guess if your interested, just send me a link to see samples of your work. If you have questions feel free to ask. This is very informal I'll feel lucky if I can just get four people interested.

If you don't mind me saying it's a nice start, but for a finished project I'm looking for something a little more detailed. I looked into your projects, black and white images would work fine but If I'm going to make it part of the cover for the printed product the final product would need to have more detail. You know, shadows, textures so on and so on.

I might give this a go once I get back from the art exhibition I'm attending this week.

Wow that's cool. I could definately use this. Is there any chance you could include a back-ground so it's not completely white? It doesn't have to match the original picture, I'm just not a fan of too much negative space.

Sure. What type of background are you looking for? What color(s) you looking for?

I don't want to throw something on your plate that would bog you down, I'm sure you have other projects. However an interesting idea came to me making this cover. I thought a plaid backround would be kinda cool. For instance, have you ever seen the music video for Avril Lavigne's “Girlfriend”. In the video there are sements with the band dancing and playing and the wall has this really cool pink and black plaid pattern. I thought that might be cool. I'll post a link to the video in question.

Here is the ad template. Two ads will be stacked vertically to fit on a single page. If your content Is heavy on gore or sexual content I'd appreciate if you put in a content warning. Link takes you to the jpeg template on the SOS Radio facebook page. Turns out you can't just upload images onto these posts strait from the computer library.

I’m not sure about the size or specs like the dpi x dpi. I’m going to go with the standard 300 dpi if that is okay with you.

here. This may help. The link will take you to the printable template for KaBlam Magazine comicbook layouts. Your sd just needs to fit the lower 1/2 of the page if it was divided in half horizontally.

Okay. Without bleed or trim the size is 7.5 inches by 5 inches for those who don’t know size of ad. Set your dpi at 300 once you get your sizes when creating a new doc.

I will try as fast ass I can to create an ad.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Good one Andrea. Feel free to use the template to create your ad for the book. Just two more altered covers needed. Maybe six if extra people show interest.

Okay. Thanks for including the content warning. I'm getting ready to post my next page of SOS Radio so I will put one of your ads up tomorrow before I post the new page, and the other a few days after. I still need at a minimum 2 more variations of the cover. If anyone reading this knows someone else that might be interested in a similar deal, please spread the worf.
