Something about Hawk just makes me want to write to his parents and tell them what a good job they did raising him. I feel like a better person myself just knowing him. Maybe it's because he's so great? He's level-headed, reliable, honest, positive and talented. He does tend to lurk a bit, but when he does say something it's perceptive and uniquely contributive. If he says he'll do something, he does it. If others are getting worked up, he is calm. If he can't say something nice he doesn't say it at all. (Okay, that's not always true, but if he has something not-nice to say he'll say it in a very nice way.) He's been long involved in cool projects like the Multi-Artist eXchange. I'll embarrass him and say he's always been one of my favorite people here on DD and I hope to be able to say that for a long time to come!

Guess what, guys? The DD 24Hour 2011 collection is nearly (as far as we know) complete! DDers who participated in 24-Hour Comic Day last weekend have sent a bunch of submissions to Product Placement, and he has created a collection of them in one place for people to read! It has 224 pages (and a few more promised) so there is plenty to read. There's great stories from Call Me Tom, rokulily and Product Placement, RPGgrenade, niccea, ayesinback, brightpath, Old Pond, Celes, Rockeign, AQua_ng, and rougey! (And it's not to late to submit your own, if you did something for that day!)

The brilliant featured comic KING JAMES MONEEGO by cote has reached its conclusion at 109 pages. It is a great comic, cote is extremely talented, and perhaps you will consider buying a copy of the book format! cote is going to put together a Kickstarter to print the book through Kablam, so look for that in November. :]

and last but not least,

MrHades has chosen the winner for the Vanguard competition to codename the newest team member! You should definitely check it out- what is the kid's codename? Who was the winner? Surely you're curious!

Wow... I didn't notice this until now. I guess this is what I get for bookmarking the forum and not the front page. Thank you, Skoolmunkee! And the rest of you who commented.

I like Hawk's comic and his Quackcast appearance was great. Hope to come in contact with him more at some point. A really good artist and comix community guy. Hawk! Hawk! Haw--yes. Congrats!

This is a terrific spotlight! Congrats, Hawk -- and thanks for being such a great mainstay (and the "how I do a page" in Culture Shock :-)
