Hiya, Duckies!

It is now getting colder and snowing in many parts of the northern hemisphere where many drunk duckers reside. This morning, I woke up to a gorgeous view of a snow covered city. I did not even need to listen to the news to predict today's weather forecast and go into hibernation mode (like a bear) and spend the afternoon drinking hot tea and reading webcomics. In spite of the weather, I am going to discuss the 2013 Fall/Winter color forecast by PANTONE® to add a burst of color to an otherwise colorless winter wonderland.

In a world of infinite color, deciding which colored shirt to wear in the morning is sometimes impossible. The fashion industry has been compiling color trends from the general public for years and produces a bi-annual color forecast that sets the stage for the season's newest color palette. The color forecast is a prediction selected by a small committee of distinguished, elite “color czars” that determine the next color trends through a vote. The same color scheme trickles down from the fashion industry to interior design and graphic designers, and in turn, could possibly influence the colors used in a webcomic.

Emerald is the PANTONE® Color of the Year, as well as the first color in the Autumn/Winter Color Forecast which also includes: Mykonos Blue, Linden Green, Acai, Samba, Koi, Deep Lichen Green, Vivacious, Turbulence, and Carafe.

It is important to stay updated with color trends from a design perspective to be contemporary chic. It also shows a conscientiousness for the design industry. This year, more than ever, the color forecast has been geared toward a unisex palette. So here is a challenge: The next time the opportunity arises to pick colors for an outfit, a website, or a webcomic page, use colors relevant to the current season's color forecast. It is like a secret handshake for the fashion saavy.
