As you know, I was overseeing May's DD Fashion Show Contest and chose a historical theme for contestants. After a long period of deliberation, the judges (okay, it's just me) have selected our winners!
BEST HISTORICAL OUTFIT DESIGN - bravo1102's “Russian Tank Lieutenant 1945”
I had a feeling that bravo would blow this out of the water, and indeed he did! The goal for this category was accuracy, and bravo has demonstrated time and again his extensive knowledge of historical military garb. The only difficulty was choosing which particular outfit I should crown our winner. Kyoko's outfit was perhaps the most detailed, but I'm absolutely in love with Pinky's Russian tank lieutenant outfit. It's flamboyant and accurate all at once, which I think is exactly what the winning entry should be.

BEST HISTORY-INSPIRED OUTFIT DESIGN - KimLuster's “Kimber Lee Ascendant”
It was really difficult to choose a winner in this category because we had some really creative and well-drawn entries. But Kimber Lee looks here like she was snatched straight out of a Greek epic! Down to her hair, accessories and even her build she looks perfectly suited to a role as a mythological heroine. The historical inspiration for her outfit is clear, but at the same time KimLuster has taken creative license in making Kimber Lee look far more fantastical and heroic than an ordinary ancient Greek outfit. I'm excited to see how this outfit plays into The Godstrain!
Here are your trophies, winners! Feel free to stick them in your banner, your comic's “links” section, print them out and put them up on the fridge, etc., so everyone will know how awesome you are!
Thank you to all of our contestants!
Sway: If there was an award for most thoughtful write-up this would win for sure!
usedbooks: Sally is adorable! I love the aviator hat and goggles.
cresc: Definitely the sexiest entry!
darkace: Special shout-out, because I want that bikini. Seriously, awesome.
VinoMas: I know you weren't technically entering the contest, but I still love your recreations of early 20th century styles.
