I'm indulging in what could be a problematic experiment. Bear with me…
In the history of this amazing webcomics hosting community there was a dark and interesting place in time and space, we called it “the Top Drawer”. Think about New York in the 1970s: dangerous, sexy, sleazy, unsafe, a place where interesting and creative things burst forth like hallucinogenic fungus from a rotting log.

The Top Drawer was a place on the forums of Drunk Duck, so named because top drawers in kitchens often become a repository for things that just don't fit anywhere else. The Top Drawer started as a dumping ground for admins and moderators to move stupid discussions and pointless threads. Bored Drunk Duckers chanced upon this wasteland and discovered fertile ground… It wasn't moderated, people could talk about and do want they wanted there, there were no rules, the admins just didn't care about it! This eventually led to some very crazy but fun activity. It was like when the teacher or your parents have gone away and now you are free to play! Because of this there was a lot of intense community involvement among a very small, tight knit group. This sub-forum became the incubator for a lot of cool and creative ideas. We had a lot of fun in there.

But it had a significant dark side as well. It HAD to be moderated in the end to try and control the excess perpetrated by some members. Crazy activities that began in the Top Drawer spread to other parts of the site. The actions of some members within the top drawer even got them permanently banned from the whole site. This was more due to the personalities of those specific people rather than the “no rules” status of the forum, it was just that the status attracted them in the first place.

Eventually the Top Drawer got completely out of control and had to be closed down forever…
But forever is a long time. I've decided I'll try creating a new Top Drawer.
