Establishing and maintaining a consistent update schedule is not just important, it also has many benefits. It’s a big part of being a content creator. But what makes it so beneficial? Here are a few reasons why a well paced schedule can help you as a comic creator.

It can help you maintain a good work-life balance
Knowing when your deadlines are helps you set aside the time you need to work on your comic, especially if you have work or other activities/hobbies. Making sure you’re able to maintain a healthy routine when it comes to your comic work is vital to avoiding stress and burnout. Pick a schedule that you can fit in around your life and plan around that for maximum results.

Update schedules can help you pace your work
By taking into account when you update you can plan a cliffhanger around a week’s break to make your readers wait, or consider updating a series of action pages in quick succession to maintain the pace. If you want your readers to mull over a plot point or character developments, planning a certain number of days between updates can help with that. Updating affects the pacing of your story so you can use it to your advantage.

Readers will know when to visit your comic
When you stick to an update schedule it makes it easier for readers who want to read your comic. It becomes part of their routine and is often something they look forward to that day. They’ll remain invested in both you and your comic. That is always a good thing to nurture.

When do you update your comic? Have you ever used it to affect the pacing of your story? Let us know in the comment section below! And join us on Sunday evening for our Quackchat at 5:30PM(EST)!

All true - I wish I hadn't gone so crazy updating during my flurry of work. Because then when I slowed down the updates stopped - could have spaced them out and had this slow time covered! There were also story and character points missed I think because of the deluge of updates. Ah well - live n' learn!
