Political science uses the term “Globalization”; a Nguni Bantu term “Ubuntu” translates to “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”; in the United States, we call it a “Social Network”. It has become apparent more now than ever before that it is possible for one isolated event to send a domino effect that can make catastrophic, and disastrous changes on the other side of the world.

What is Chaos Theory?

The dictionary defines Chaos theory as an idea that small alterations can give rise to strikingly great consequences. The idea of the Butterfly Effect is if a butterfly flaps its wings in Japan, a tornado will be felt all the way in Kansas.

Drunk Duck member, cheolychii, began a forum topic titled, “How does COVID-19 translate into your life?” ( https://www.theduckwebcomics.com/forum/topic/178426//) and this is a forum post that everyone can comment on because the butterfly effect has been felt in most areas of the world, even in the most remote locations.

The point is that it is important to realize that we are all connected in many more ways than we know and as it has been seen over the last six months, we are all on the same boat (or on a fleet of similar, but different boats). Remember that.

Today is Memorial Day, so to all the service members and Veteran’s who have given so much, we celebrate you today.

One good analogy taken from ancient greek mythology (my favourite ancient greek myth) is the story about Eris, the godess of chaos. Eris was snubbed from coming to a party on Mount Olympus, as a scheme to get back at the other olympian gods, Eris tosses a golden apple down the stairs of Olympus, with the words "Kallisi" written on it, which in modern english translates to "to the fairest". Seeing this golden apple and its words, the godesses immidiately begins to fight over this apple, each claiming to be the fairest godess. Zeus then appoint Paris, prince of Troy, to act inpartial judge over which godess gets to claim the golden apple. The one who wins the apple is Aphrodite, who bribes Paris by using her divine authority to have Paris get married with the most beutiful woman of the mortal world, this romantic encounter would trigger the 10 year long war of the Illiad and the destruction of Troy. The chaos effect, and the vengeance of Eris, caused by the simple throw of an apple.

I thought the Chaos Theory was disaster after disaster after disaster that would lead to patterns of something beautiful or in creating life. Like the Big Bang on how the universe was formed or even our sun natural behavior to us on earth giving life. I cant say I Agree with the Butterfly Effect theory. To say that a butterfly flap its wings somewhere on earth and causes A Tornado On the other side of the earth is way too far fetched. This would mean if any body sneezes, an airplane would experience turbulence from this person’s sneeze. This world would be in serious trouble. It should be said as a series of events leading towards outcome. With this C19, it was a bat that started this series of unfortunate events. However, I don’t think the bat flapped it’s wings that stated a world wide pendemic. As bad as C19 is, I’m still glad it’s not the Black Plague. Stay safe Everyone.
