No, not surgical masks, this is about the kind superheros wear, also gimps, masquerades, villains and robbers! Inspired by Pitface and her deep and abiding love of gimp masks. We talk about how common it is to find masks in comics and how comic characters probably wear masks more than in any other media. And most media where characters wear masks is based on comics anyway.

This week Gunwallace has given us a theme to Generation Bad: An epic entrance! Striding into a grand hall, cloak billowing wide, regal, grand, huge. Violins pacing out the rhythm, twin electric guitars, one threatening with a low, distant thunder growl as the other soars and wheels high above!

Just think: a quick change of a mask and the villian who just committed massive crimes against nature and humanity is suddenly the hero who arrives on the scene and has a good idea on how to limit the damage done, and coincidentally destroys any evidence of who the villian is.

Wow, thanks for the awesome theme! I can just imagine that paired with a slick opening sequence to a cartoon series. Kind of reminds me of the 90's Hulk cartoon, with a very tense build-up. As for masks, while obviously I'm partial to superheroes, I also gotta proclaim my love for Jason Voorhees' Hockey Mask (Micheal Meyer's as well), Darth Vader's helmet, and the WWE wrestler KANE! (but only the full face-covering one, the Batman-chin-exposed one was garbo.)

One of my faves is all the helmet masks in the second series of Robotch (i.e. Super Dimension Cavalry Souther Cross), I love those geometric visiors.
