Another site redesign update
Alexey has almost finished work on the front page of the new front page and is wondering what to start on next!
Both him and I thought that perhaps the news pages would be a good option because they're a front facing site that are used by everyone and current updates feature here so it's a good way to show our progress to anyone who uses the site. I just have to ask Emm to design it using her new template style.

But in case there's another candidate for the new redesign treatment (that a lot of people agree on and we think is a good idea), I'm putting the question to the community:
Which part of the site do you think Alexey should work on next?
Bear in mind that it should be something that benefits a lot of people and there's not going to be many functional changes: mainly aesthetic changes.

It looks absolutely marvellous so far. Your progress is really spectacular, and it's looking really together and very exciting. The design is coherent and aesthetically pleasing, and I'm sure it'll be a big leap forward in even easier usage and engagement. I do agree that perhaps forum integration into the main page, at least to some extent, would probably stimulate more activity in those discussions.

Addendum: forget that preview button for forum posts suggestion, today I learned the tick mark gives me a preview of how a post will look. D'OH.

When making forum posts, a preview button, and selectable smileys. Here in news item posts, allow img tags to display images. Some basic formatting here would be nice also, like the ability to break big text blocks into paragraphs. In comic reader comments, those same things, not just in the comic page author comment. Who knows how "little" such changes would be? Not me. Just asking, just in case anything's possible.

Making the forums more accessible, as suggested by Casscade and marcorossi should be high on the list. Links to the most recent forum posts on the front page would be a great addition. Being able to mark threads so you get notified on new posts in them may be a great idea, too - but all that leads me to why I think going on with the community blog is an even better idea right now. Since the forums could greatly profit from functionality updates like those above, I'd suggest to go on collecting ideas for them and try to save up funds to add those two or three the community agrees on being most useful/necessary, along with the redesign. Meanwhile, the community blog doesn't really need any new functions and is highly visible already. A facelift to match it to the front page would make good PR sense by noticeably showing to the world at large that stuff is getting done here by people who care, while taking relatively little effort (if I read that correctly). It'd be good value for money.

IMHO the forum with some option where I see the replies to the threads I posted into in my control panel, like for comments and personal quacks.

Everything looks great so far! Love the clean layout for the news page as well. ^^ So excited to see this all come together! Just an idea for the front page: Maybe a tiny blurb under For The Lols with 3 or 5 of the most recently updated forum posts as well? Not sure if adding that in would make the front page feel cluttered or not. But I think that might encourage people to check out the forums more often if they see that engagement is active on the front page? Just an idea. XD But other than that, I can't really think of anything. Everything's lookin' good!
