The Winter Solstice is approaching as the elderly, recently retired Yulefather sits by a fire pit roasting fish on a stick. The woodland creatures, mainly Squabbit, are in turmoil searching for a replacement Yulefather after the former one decided to retire following a dangerous mountain giant attack the previous year. The next Yulefather requires the unanimous support of the woodland creatures in order to have power. Squabbit, with the help of a horse called Apple Grey, frantically train the potential Yulefather successors, Spruce and Piney, before the mountain giant’s inevitable return.

The coloring style uses a black, white, and teal color scheme with pops of accent colors to liven up a scene. The Squabbit’s interaction with the mountain giant is reminiscent of a trickster character found in folklore.
