Episode 299 - Self Insertion of Characters

Nov 28, 2016

In Quackcast 299 we expand on an idea from Tantz's Saturday newspost about inserting your personality into your characters when you write them. But not only that, we chat about how a work of fiction by a writer can be like a darkly faceted diamond with many aspects of themselves reflected in all their individual characters. And then we go even further and talk about how we insert ourselves into characters that we read about or see on the screen. What characters do you see yourself as in your favourite works? Gunwallace' music this week was the theme to Girlsquadx! It's a fun, techno, bouncing, pop action tune!

Fiction characters aren't too different from hose based on real people you still give them the same personalities and motivations. What helps is to base them ON real people :D

Really enjoyed this episode! I'd like to eventually try doing some fiction comics and writing characters is what really makes me hesitate.

Hmmm, really? I have no idea how to do that... Hahaha, I can barely manage normal Google hangouts XD

Very cool. If you go with the Google Hangout, you can live stream it direct through YouTube. It can record automatically to the host's yt channel. Just a thought.

Every character isn't the author, but is, at the very least, filtered through 'em. They've got that taint, so to speak. Almost at 300, guys. Wow!
