SS6 87 Exploring the Mill

Just a quick note today as I just want to get this page posted before bedtime!
This is where our Lenore story really comes to a head! If you can't work out what Sarah has spotted then you'll find out next week anyway!

Out of interest, this setting I used as a prequel to the finale does exist and it's really just fate that the story centres here because it was never originally planned that way. When it came time to draw the pages where Lucy, Laura and Sarah meet up for a chat I wanted somewhere new to play with artwise and first thought drinks at a pub and then of a local one to me, the Barge at Battlesbridge in Essex. It also occurred to me that I could use the antiques centre and river etc. as a backdrop if I wanted more interesting views. But the really beautiful thing about this place is that besides having a nest of antique shops both inside and around the mill, it also has one of the weirdest shop/museums I've ever come across, a sort of museum of the macabre called ‘The Fifth Corner’. When I first walked into the shop last summer there was an enormous stuffed crow sitting on the counter which was a bit of an omen as I'd been doing the Carlingford Legend pages at the time as well. For the comic though I've created a similar but un-named shop inside the Mill along with an equally unrecognisable owner to avoid any publication problems in the future. Besides all that though you can see from this lovely photo here taken by Terry Joyce that the bridge, the pub, and the Mill on the river are all fairly accurately depicted in the comic just as they are in real life.

Have a nice week :)
