SS7 45 Night out at Colors 13
skyangel on Feb. 9, 2020
Laura was just a child when her father died and in her early teens her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer too. Adopted by a family she had never known, under the deception that she was the love child of the husbands from a past affair he had with her mother, she was was not well received or treated by her new step mother as a result. She soon however became very attached to the family's daughter Lucy who likewise also became very fond of her too but when the parents became aware that the relationship was becoming intimate they did their utmost to keep them apart believing they were very possibly sisters and the pressure from everyone eventually ended up in Laura suffering a Gran Mal seizure. Eventually the parents learned the truth while Laura was recovering in hospital and having had enough of the family anyway Laura accepted a very generous annuity on the condition she stay away from Lucy. Lucy was already convinced that Laura had died at the house so her parents kept the fact that Laura survived from her ‘for her own good’. At first Laura was okay with the idea but when her feelings for Lucy began to turn to heartache she tried to make contact again and Lucy's father took drastic steps to keep her away almost to the point of committing murder. His death threat finally paid off!
Whilst dating Lucy some months later, Sarah slowly uncovered the whole horrible mess and realised that Laura had been an innocent victim but in finally reuniting the two the feelings they had previously had for each other had become so flattened by all the events that had kept them part for so long. Sarah though has always considered the possibility that with time the previous feelings Lucy and Laura had for each other may resurface and now she has finally witnessed that at least one of them has proven her right.
…………..
That's the end of their night out for now and with just eight weeks to go by Sarah's calendar her relationship with Lucy looks like it might be starting to face problems, especially if Lucy starts to feel drawn towards Laura again too!
Have a nice week! :)

Spotlight on both Laura and Pippa in panel three

DV: I had a space so thought I'd pop Laura in there able to see the romancing going on, and then I thought yea, Pippa should see that her promised slow dance went to Nikki instead as a sort of 'up you' gesture!

I vividly remember "I'll just lie down here for a bit" times, from way in the past. I literally used to get paralytic, occasionally, at parties. Seriously rag-doll style. They used to carry me and dump me in a spare room - or worse still, the van ! Really annoying with a fully active brain, that a mate once told me was a "writer's mind", that wanted to watch and file away everything B-) Relationships always seem to involve some hurt B/

Bear: Haha that sounds really bad! I've been drunk and been at the stage where I just want to get away from the noise and close my eyes, but I've never lost the use of my legs! lol Maybe it would improve my writing tho if I did! :)

p.s. I love the colour density on this page.

NicandBen: Yea, I think it's important Sarah feels bad for what she did. I could have made her do something even more nasty and I've even considered having her put her finger up at Laura but Sarah's supposed to be the heroine of the story so I felt it's important her actions can be forgivable.

Oh dear, this is what Sarah did to Lucy, and the dark side of her - which I suppose in some form or another we all have - is saying, "I've won. She's mine. Go and ahead and cry. Loser." :-( ………………………………………………………. And then the drink catches up with her and it all gets rather undignified. I suspect Sarah will have one hell of a hangover, but will she be feeling worse over her actions? ………………………………………………………………………. And then we have Nikki and Janey dancing together, and Nikki not looking too happy with it. Is it because it's an "feeling sorry for you" dance rather than Janey actually wanting to dance with Nikki? (Although Janey does seem pretty happy.) Or some other reason? We shall see what happens next. Or is next week going back to Victorian Carlingford?
skyangel at 4:07PM, Feb. 12, 2020
Fruitbat: Sarah always regrets hurting people - except perhaps Janey! As for Nikki, there's a bit more to come on that in a few pages time but you're half right as it's back to the theatre next page to see how Sarah reflects on that night out and then over to Victorian Carlingford to see what Hopkins is up to. :)

Oh, the second panel is sad; poor Laura. Even though it's still painful for her, I'm glad that what Sarah ended up actually doing to Laura was more passive than my imagination was leading to. Still cruel and very intentional, however. Pippa looks rather unhappy in the background there; I'm sure she is disappointed she never got to dance with Janie. Better luck next time, Pippa!

Gemi: This is how I originally wrote the script but as the pages went live I began to think that maybe Sarah should say or do something really bad with Laura but in the end I feel this simple act still seemed pretty mean and spiteful. The important thing though is that Sarah feels very guilty later on just because she knows Laura is so vulnerable.
