SS7 157 Phoning Kim

I'm increasingly finding it harder to keep motivated with this comic now it's nearing completion. I think we have about 15 pages left from this point and I've inked four of those for Becky to colour so I'm just hoping I can keep moving at enough of a pace so as not to need to take a hiatus.

I think half of the problem is that now this is all written up there's nothing to think about except new ideas for other comics or even just written stories and it all keeps my mind distracted from being here now.

I'm also indulging other peoples comics again which is something I haven't had time for for a long while and the worst part of that is that whilst reading archives done by others, I'm again not thinking or working on my own comic.

Anyways, we will get there in the end, that's for sure. I just want some of that wonderful enthusiasm one always gets at the start of the comic. The stuff that makes you so excited you're convinced it will DEFINITELY be completed and you see no reason not to be updating at LEAST 3 times a week!!!!

I understand what you said in your author's notes, but it doesn't really show in the comic... I was amazed to know this is your un-inspired work... man, I wish I can draw that well when I'm not inspired! The quality of these pages is amazing, all the different expressions, you almost don't need the dialogs to understand it. For me it was almost the opposite, I was more excited when I was finishing my comic. You're a true pro!

Apart from Chapter one I've had the same problem with every single chapter since in that when the ending is in sight I really struggle to turn out the last few pages. Chapter two was the worst though as I ended up just writing a huge panel of text just to speed things up. Even now it makes me cringe to look at that page!

hpKomic: Thank you. I can see you keep pretty busy yourself so I imagine you find it hard to spend time reading comics instead of making them too! :)

I suspect that other creators of big artistic projects may have difficulty with completing them. I know that classical music composers often left lots of unfinished works. The psychological processes involved must be very complex.

Fred: That's a very good point. I think the biggest reason is boredom. As we get nearer the end there is less and less to think about apart from actually turning out the pages and that starts to feel like work rather than pleasure.

Genejoke: Very true. The hot weather has a lot to do with how I feel. When I get too warm I just want to flop around and have naps!

Dear Sky, I read one panel at a time slowly,I was heart broken also to see their expressive body language all of a sudden , reveal the ending, so sad. 15 pages? That's about 3 months...I can relate. I have been working on "The Great Global Warming Cover-up Plot" For xx fracking number of years now, I some times want to pull out my hair and jump in to the Hudson River via the G.W.B.

Tommym: Yea, it's weird talking of page numbers because it takes about 15 minutes to read 4 pages yet a whole month for them to go up! You get to a point tho don't you where you've come so far that it would seem too much of a waste not to finish.
