It's been a while since Stacey first walked away from the wedding reception but you may remember, one of the last digs Janey made about Stacey was when her daughter Cally asked if she could have the figurines from the wedding cake to which Janey made a cutting remark about Stacey stealing them when nobody was looking.
* Way back in Chapter Four Geraldine's mum (who was a social worker who failed to save Stacey from her abuser during her school years) offered to be a safe house for Stacey later on to try and compensate for her failure. Gerry accepted the decision for her mum's peace of mind but couldn't forgive Stacey for all the bullying she endured herself during the time they were at school together..

It's nice you got to read these last few pages in one go as they originally went out weekly and I felt that lessened the impact a lot.

DV: Janey made a very cutting remark towards Stacey just a few pages back when Cally first asked if she could have them and that's what caused them to walk out, so I like to think she did this because she felt guilty after Gerry shared her own story.

Janey may still have a dislike for Stacey (which is understandable, and not a hatred), but she knows Cally has nothing to do with that

This is really nice of Janey; she does not owe Stacy anything. But for me, the greatest thing about this page is that Sarah is finally addressing Janey's pain without accusing her of holding onto a grudge too long. Very nice page, and I think this will be the true start of the two of them building trust between each other.

When Janey came down to help Sarah with the witch bottle, I remember thinking to myself: "Why doesn't Sarah tell Janey about why Gerry and Stacey have made amends and become so close? How Stacey has become a better person since. But then I thought, it's not really her story to tell. I also understand that something like being almost killed is not something you just get over. It wasn't until reading this exact page that I thought: Well, Sarah could have also asked Gerry if she could share that story with Janey. Lol

I agree with you that it's Gerry's story to tell, but Sarah also knows that the subject always gets Janey fired up, so she probably wanted to avoid any subject involving Stacy and focus on other topics.

Nice to see Becky's colouring again, and, oh . . . so that's what Janey grabbed off the table. I can still understand Janey still hating Stacey, but sometimes forgiveness is as much for you as it is for your enemy. And I will confess I'd forgotten Gerry's revenge. ...... Anyway, the bit with the cake toppers was really sweet.
