My War With The Damaged Family Man Page 6

Air Raid Robertson on May 5, 2012

Happy Free Comic Book Day, everyone. As ever, this page of Air Raid Robertson is being presented to you with no charge. I hope it provides a solid capper to your day of unpaid reading pleasure.

Although I have a loose structure in mind, I am never more than a page or two ahead of my updates. This allows me breathing room to add, trim, or alter scenes. This page is a pretty good example of that.

My initial thought was just to have Air Raid Robertson awaken at the enemy's lair. However, that would require him to be unconscious for an extended period after suffering a blow to the head. As any doctor will tell you, a person who blacks out after a bludgeoning usually snaps back to consciousness after a moment or two. A longer period leads to severe brain damage, trauma, and death.

And yes, I know that nobody will accuse this strip of being realistic. At the same time, I felt the urge to sidestep such a scenario. I then thought of Air Raid Robertson coming to while he's being transported to the bad guy. I didn't draw the giant robot with a sack, so it seemed logical to have Robertson and Ridley crammed inside the robot's body.

And hey, all that thinking led to a slightly homoerotic gag about crossing swords. You never know what kind of storytelling gold one can possibly stumble upon.
