Smoothing out all those joints is hard. I use just about everything in the Photoshop arsenal to do it. Shoulders are especially hard and if you've noticed I avoid having an arm over the head. That means drawing in the underarm and various shoulder muscles. On the figure its just the arm going up without any of the accompanying body structure. So I avoid it.

Unlike most head sculpts those breast pieces are supplied unpainted. So any and all painting and shading you see is courtesy of my paint brush. I also add nipples to those figures lacking with bits of plastic and putty and paint in the areola. Again a piece of anatomoy that is very individual. As far as heads; Trisha is the same identical head as Belle but her face was scrubbed with paint remover and she was repainted. Drybrushing and washes are old friends for me with my long years building models. Now powdered pigments are all the rage but I've never been crazy about them as they limit handling without a proper fixative which as often as not blows half of the pigment away.

By the same token I try to avoid bottomless shots. The crotches on the figures are mostly open to allow movement of the hip joints so eveything seen there is drawn. By the same token there are no external genitalia. I have done sculpted some on male figures and some female figurtes have the labia molded on. And aside: there is actually a step by step tutorial on creating external genitalia on Ken and Barbie. Seems popel will pay money for it on Ebay.

And then there's figuring out how a character would arrange their pubic hair. Trisha and Belle are real blondes.
