Sometimes, you don't need to have the strongest attack or the most firepower to be victorious. Sometimes just being the first to land a strike is enough to secure victory!
These past couple pages I've been testing out some of my software's special effects capabilities. The blurry Lamika in frame 3 is supposed to be her moving really fast as she does her back flip towards her target. Here's what I want to know from you guys…
Do you like what I've done with these past couple pages? Do you see any imporvements that I could make? (Keep these within reason please! Asking me to change my art style or demanding super detailed art would make updating almost impossible!)
I'm curious what people think of the comic thus far. (As a whole, not just these couple of “higher quality” pages.) I've never put my comic up for a review nor have I tried to enter any “contests” like the DD awards. Most of the “Official reviews” of webcomics I've read are nothing more than some jerk's way to be a dick to the artist who has put his or her hard work out there. Personaly I think most reviewers are just punks who are just either jealous or just plain pompus asses. What I care about is what my readers think, they are the ones whos opinion truely matters to me. Not some dweeb whos only goal is to tear apart my work and has nothing positive nor constructive to say! Tell me what you don't like, but don't forget to tell me what you do like as well. the next page will be “higher quality” as well. See you next week!
Ouch, that looks seriously painful!
The perspectives in these panels look hard to pull off, but they were well worth the effort. The foreshortening is perfect, I could never dream of drawing poses like that @_@ As always your action sequencing is flawless!
I think the blur effect is a great touch, it enables the reader to really imagine every movement as it's being made. but what I like most of all is the shading. It is subtle, yet makes the colours very easy on the eye and adds a lot of depth :3 Great work, keep it up!
Well Tosh, you hit the reason on the head there for why people 'should' be doing web comics. It's about doing something you love doing and being able to connect with people who like what you're putting up, that's the whole point of it being on an interactive medium.
People are enjoying what you're doing, even ones who don't comment as much as they should like me.
No all reviewers are evil!
So of us try to offer genuinely constructive criticism!
*feels a little nervous with all this anti reviewer sentiment going around*
I have never been rude in reviewing and persoinally think this is a great comic to begin with.. Also, I like the first attempt for the blur on panel 3... Great show, Toshubi.

Actually there is one specific DD'er I can think of straight away who seems to think his shit is jewel encrusted gold and loves trying to to destroy peoples efforts or confidence. As far as I'm concerned, if you have regular readers, you're doing SOMETHING right.
most of the unasked for reviews I've had left me wondering if said reviewer had ever looked at my comic.. let alone read it.. as of late I've been getting messages ranting about how I'm ripping off someone I never heard of off..
I enjoy your story.. I keep coming back to read it.. try new things new ideas.. always try to get better learn a new trick.. never be afraid to try.. do this because there is something about it you love.. and you can't go wrong..
sometimes I look back at long ago pages and try to decide when My art stopped sucking and got ok..I can never pick a turning point..as I'm still learning and changing ..if I ever win something I'll faint..
Personally I agree with your sentiments about comic reviewers - the one CS showed me was nothing but rude people being unfunny about other webcomics which, if truly that awful, would benefit from constructive criticism rather than a self styled Simon Cowell of the Drunk Duck universe pointing out obvious faults frame by frame.
Secondly, I like the motion blur effect you've used on Lamika - to make it look even faster you could try sandwiching a blurred figure between two static ones so it would be: 1. preparing for action, 2. moving into position 3. consequence (just a suggestion, I know it's hard fitting lots into one panel).
And thirdly, Happy New Year Toshubi! Keep up the good work!
I agree that a more transparent Lamika would have been a good idea. Other wise it kinda makes you dizzy.
I also love the style this is in. Some times the paneling on a page makes it a little large, but that's more a personal preference.
I'm not sure what else to say. Um.
I love the narrations in this comic as well and the way you get to see all the character perspectives as well.
I think it's a fine effect for the blurry Lamika. *Thumbs up.* Keep testing. I'll give you my best critique in the readers input thread. Since I tend to be filled with words... n.n;

if you would have made the blurry Lamika a little transparent you would have made it look much better.
