This book was hand colored, with marker, dyes, colored pencil and hand cut zip-a-tone….all which have been replaced by the digital age. I love photoshop, but for some reason, I find myself wanting to stay in the dark ages, and hand color stuff. Probably why I can't find work in the business…..but thats ok.

Man I love your work! I'm definitely coming back to check the rest of your story out. I am a huge fan of the original comics of Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I know that we will most likely never again get to see a mainstream raw and exciting style of hand drawn art so thanks for this nostalgia :D

This is beautiful. I remember seeing coloring like this from some of my favorite titles from back in the day. I love it.

Digital colouring is an art in itself. At the moment, I think most of the industry is still new-fangled with the tech side of it, so every book looks like it's been painted by a kid with nothing but primary colours in his palette and every surface from chrome to tweed is buffed to a high gloss finish. That's not really the fault of the technology, it's the fault of the colourists. It'll be a while, I guess, before colourists learn to use it properly and create the right tones and textures for the right surfaces. In the meantime, at least we can all get nostalgic for the days when it was done "properly". Like this!

Back when did these pages, I never dreamed I'd evr ave to have a computer, so Itwas all hand done. I woud draw the art,, on 10"x15" art board, shrink it 67%, then hand color the xerox. send that to the printer, and they would shoot the plates from that......how different it all is now, when you can draw, ink and letter on a computer...and deliver a disc to the printer. Theres alot of good things to be said about the digital age, for sure.....but just as much to be said about the good old days of just doing it by hand. :-)

Has the entire Comics market gone digital? Too bad! Because there is SO much to be said about the sort of "traditional" work you do. This page supports my opinion!
