This isn't the first page involving toilet humor, after all. Working in the heat is getting pretty miserable, considering what it does to my stupid hand. Yesh indeedy it has been looked at, years ago in fact it's just that they didn't actually find anything up with it. Holy crap I just looked at it, there's a visible swelling or something to it, more so than my left hand anyway…take that, doctor who thought I was just “thinking it hurt” (geez what am I a hypochondriac or something? I submit the answer is “no”) If it's not a cyst like the first doctor I saw presumed, then I don't know what it is but I don't like it, and it certainly doesn't seem like either carpal tunnel or arthritis. Enough about my stupid hand though, someone might think I'm making “excuses” (I also submit that my hand freaking hurting is a good excuse anyway, so there)
And before I forget, check out the comic Off Hours not only because it's fun and entertaining, but very soon I'll have a page up there too! Now seriously, go check it out it's cool.
Lordlyhour my friend, I have appreciated your comments and all the ones in the archives (I do tend to check in small batches for good questions) but I would like to know exactly why you are annoyed at me for the tshirt store. Where I live, if you don't have money you starve and if you can't pay your bills on time because you're broke, they drive you to the poorhouse with late fees. Why exactly is it shameful to want to continue drawing free comics for people, but still be able to afford living? People have been asking for YEARS for me to make tshirts for this comic. Maybe I haven't made it obvious enough, but I don't have a steady paying job. This comic IS my job. This isn't some hobby that I take care of on a lunch break, I spent far more than 8 hours on this page alone.
We can't afford to pay our bills, for our house, our internet, and food for both me, Nick and my two ferrets, to get Nick's computer fixed so we don't have to share this one, to get a new desk because this old one is about to fall apart, to paint our walls because these neutral colors are driving me NUTS, to get some bookshelves because all our books and crap have nowhere to go and so on, with just Nick's paycheck. And to be honest, the tshirts are hardly going to cover that, I made the store because people asked for the shirts. If you don't believe me, look in my forums.
I'm not trying to yell or anything but I find it deeply hurtful that you are trying to shame me for something as trivial as this. There are far worse things I could do to this comic than sell a few shirts that people asked for(and we're talking about cafepress here, I'm not exactly making a mint)
I never understood the problem with a cartoonist putting up a store or paypal button. After all, you expend time, money, and effort to give away a comic for free, and demand nothing in return. Part of what made Will Eisner (google it, kids!) such a great pioneer is that he was both an artist AND a businessman. There's no shame in wanting to support yourself with your work!
Also, it's nice to see Mye taking charge! That girl is too patient for her own good.
I'd buy a pipecleaner sculpture, if they're as good as that one in your av. I think they'd sell since they're artsy, geeky and original like the readerbase here. You'd make more mint with them than t-shirts you can buy from everywhere I bet!
It's all about marketing.
thanks for understanding amy and i FINALLY (after reading your pq) looked at the store which i was "complaining" about and seriously loved half the stuff i saw (soon as i get a credit card im going to buy that poster^_^) and the other half....... i loved as well. and i dont know wether its just because im a 15-year-old geek or what but id love the pipecleaner scuptures seriously amy i wouldnt leave such agreat comic (seriously in one of my favorite games i named all the charcters(the nameable ones)ctv names(yes i am a geek) just cause of a misunderstanding either this comic found me this site (random googling of vampires horay) and i reckon your work is better than ever and im loving where your taking this comic and i look foward to it in the future and om not sure wheter you realise this or not but im a guy(you would be suprised howmany people think otherwise) and sorry for ANOTHER rant exept im a little depressed as well cause an old friend of my sisters died yesterday and i felt like talking (as such)(though i dint know the guy very well my self it is still pretty darn sad) do you mind if i call you amy? (id like to think that i can) thanks for putting up with me (i finally remebered to rate a page too)
It is okay lordlyhour, like I say in the pq I sent you I was just having a rough time, and I think I may have over reacted a bit. It is hard to read when people are joking/sarcastic on the internet sometimes (I can sympathize, happens to me more often then not too!) I admit that is most ironic and amusing that the add did show up right after "she sells T-shirts" for you ^_^
Ah, and cafepress is an online shop were you make a picture and load the file into the virtual store and pick the sort of shirt it goes on, and it loads a base price that the shop owner adjusts to make a profit (for example, a base price of $8 with a profit of $4 is a $12 shirt for whoever buys it, $4 goes to the shop owner and cafepress keeps the $8)
Basically, we are making shirts with no overhead so we can eventually afford to make our own shirts. I was thinking of making commissioned pipe-cleaner sculptures (like the one in my avatar currently ^_^) but we do not know if there is an actual market for those or not or how much we'd even charge for them. I could start an account on ebay or etsy, but the only people interested in these would be the CTV readers and I don't want to turn the comic into a bunch of adds for junk I am selling, either.
Speaking of, I didn't put the comic title on any of the shirts, just characters I know most people like ^_^
amelius first thankyou for acknowledging my comments and second please realise i read this comic from 1st to 7hundred and somethingth IN THREE DAYS this comic has been going for several years (roughly) and i realise now that yes you have had significant changes to your lifestyle (getting married and such) please also realise that i have not yet finished my schooling and such (im fifteen in year ten and 3/4) and when i got to the mindy macabre i think it was? i had failed to take into account that you needed money im sorry about said misunderstanding and please forgive me it was during my holidays that i read this also so i was having the "sleep into 10 and stay up till 11" thing so my metabolism was really screwing me over (up from 7- 9 usually) PLUS i was on the computer (reading charby) please also realise THAT I THINK YOU ARE AWESOME (almost as much as i think charby is awesome) and that i am not trying to shame you in any way and i only really meant it as a joke (it was a coincidence but it appeared the comic after the mindy macabre comic too {mycomputer or bad timing? i dont know]) oh yes im australian so wtf is cafepress? (yes yes i know an entire rant without any chatroom slag ruined) so in summary im sorry amelius and please accept my heartfelt appology and i really only complained in the first place as a joke ps i love the new avatar i like also what you have done with the other comics (uiu in particaular) i reckon you should eventually have a ctv uiu crossover and to all the peopl saying im getting"mad" im not please read this comment

Love Mye and love this comic! First off, damn she is too hot. Not just appearance but attitude as well. I am really glad she got the hat with no problems. Hopefully he will get his hat back and she can drag him back home to sober up.
Keep up the good work and I wish you the best of luck and good will in your personal and professional endeavors.
I suppose the larger stalls are to accomodate the varying size of guests Samrick entertains, I wonder if the toilet changes size to suit its current occupant, or if the much larger guests need to be very careful how they sit and to flush frequently so as to not overfill the bowl which I imagine would be most embarrasing.
I imagine it would not be very pleasant for smaller guests as well especially those who can not fly to aid them in getting up to the seat as well as thier balance to avoid falling in.
I think that having a thick tail would also make things akward.
People have been complaining about you selling shirts? Are you KIDDING me? We *have* been asking for t-shirts and other merch for years! And you've been saying, "no, I'd feel bad" and then you finally do, we're happy, and they complain? Wha--??
Enough of my anger. I love this page. Lol, "I just ripped a door off the hinges" :P I also like how she's whapping the hat off with her tail. :D
Hey I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone's who has been supporting Charby lately. It is has been a bit of rough patch with expenses going up everywhere and we really apreciate the support from the fans. We don't want to sell out so we're trying to find inventive ways to make money without turning every updated into a plea for cash like some comics. If we can sell enough T-shirts for example we can cut a deal with a T-shirt company and bring down the price by printing them in quantity rather then on demand which will be good for everyone.
So thanks everyone, thank you very much.
