@hkmaly: nah not random, it's because on DD there are several pages which are actually two pages in one update,(like this one: http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/Charby_the_Vampirate/5403961/) but on my site I separated them to keep a consistent page size, as the template is set around that size (also because it will go in print better when we get to that!)

Sooo ... this is http://www.charbythevampirate.com/comic/1013/comic ... does it mean there are (1013-996) 17 comics on the second webpage inserted in archive? Or are those numberings completely random?
