The second of four pages of the origin of Chant, the Doppelganger Gang's premier necromancer.
Basically this is how Chant was “recruited”. We learn some details about “Mister President”–no, he didn't always look that way, we'll show you a picture of him before his current appearance someday. You also get more of a clue at what the Gang's aims are.
The city of Ti-Ron, of course, is mentioned in TALES OF THE TRAVELLING GNOME, the reality from which Chant is a native of.
Tomorrow, Chant meets some other Gangers —including some you've never seen before, and probably will never see again! –Al
...Okay, now I'm curious as to the REAL reason Mr. President wants the Death avatars. If it were for something as simple as power, he would probably be going after things that are less noticeable and easier to obtain. If he's specifically seeking this specific type of power, it means there's a specific "perk" to the aforementioned power that you can't get elsewhere.
I think, possibly, he might be trying to undo the death and destruction of his world, but that's mostly a guess.
It's a little weird being in high fantasy world and then somebody starts talking about a nuclear holocaust! Also, I like how he referred to each other as "variations on a theme"
Tolrick, that's a good analogy. Chant is like a RPG wizard-avatar of the others.
Next time, you'll see his reaction to meeting some of the other Gangers. We all have different sides to our personality---it's just with the Gangers, they can see each one VERY developed.
I see. The President is the glue holding all the Doppelgangers together, so to speak. Mental powers that can bridge dimensional gaps, but only to alternate versions of himself.
Which is kind of a creepy concept when you consider that's how I view most of the best characters I play in RPGs.........
